audio NP Text to speech app (NamePros Podcast)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Reference:
With a podcast like Josh.co for example, I can listen in the car and stack a playlist of 100 10-45min episodes (sped up 1.5x) back-to-back of almost pure domain content with one of the best in the biz talking about daily domain sales. The signal to noise ratio is insane and it's something I can consume passively while doing other things.

A forum can't compete with that -- unless you want to start a daily podcast talking about yesterday's domain sales :xf.wink:
Hmmm... maybe a "text to speech" app for nampros listening on the go? That might actually be interesting to have namepros articles and threads read out loud to us while driving down the road.... it might get more interesting replying to a thread with voice to text while driving too. ๐Ÿ˜‰
If you curated a selection of posts this would probably be a great idea.
^could get interesting ๐Ÿ˜€

Sorry btw for the mediocre sound quality of the MP2. I wasn't allowed to upload an MP3 to this forum, and the file could not be too large.

Allowed list included:

mp1
mp2
mp4

So definitely intentional. Probably for a good reason like security or legal headaches.

Added mp3 but it may need to be removed again later.

Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks. This .mp3 with the same content should be of higher quality, and can be played within the native player.

It was automatically generated by https://notebooklm.google/ based on only the URL of this thread without any further info.
Has anyone experimented with this using Top Topics? Does it crawl each of the listed articles, or do we have to give it each week's links individually?

It might be worth us doing this once a week for Top Topics?

That could provide value to busy domainers on the go to catch up each week.

Thoughts? Cc @Acroplex

Based on the faq, I guess it will not crawl nested links (page navigation within a thread). It's not totally clear what Google means with "nested webpages" in this context, though. But of course you never know with these smart guys.

Importing via Web URL
  • Only the text content of the given webpage will be scraped for use as a source; images, embedded videos or nested webpages will not be imported
  • Paywalled webpages or those that have disabled web scraping are not supported

That may mean that long threads with many pages would not work since itโ€™d only include the first page.

If so, hopefully there is (or will be) a way to include multiple URLs at once, for each page of the thread and for multiple threads on various topics.

So that's basically a friendly reminder to mention the most interesting content right on the first page of a thread, and not wait until page 145.

Thank you Namepros for continuing innovation of this forum.

If criticism is permitted: In my opinion, the content is quite drawn out and loaded with meaning. In this example, listeners are losing time instead of saving it.
Anyone who appreciates this kind of storytelling will enjoy the podcast.

Listening to the example I feel reminded of US Radio broadcasts and TV talk shows of the 1970s. This may be due to the voices, the tranquil pace and the emotionless objectivity. Is it just me?

It would be interesting to see how the tool deals with controversial threads in which there are heated arguments and a struggle for a majority opinion.

To be honest, I feel a bit helpless and almost overwhelmed. Do I want the future designed, controlled and maybe deformed by AI and its human backers? I probably won't be asked.

@Name2go In the paid version (NotebookLM Plus) it is possible to customize the style and length of comments. But good points. The funny thing is, that I am personally not a fan of podcasts. I prefer text. Take a podcast like DomainSherpa, imo it only has a few minutes of interesting content, the rest is a lot of unnecessary filler that takes way too much time. Fortunately, some podcasts also offer a transcript.

Agreed. I subscribe to a handful of podcasts that have a certain something for my taste.
Interestingly, podcasts have a relaxing effect; I usually listen to them lying down and sometimes fall asleep. (Don't tell anyone!)
Listening while driving or doing sports, ideally at 1.7x speed, as Millennials and Degens claim, would be too much for me.
What strikes me now: I understood the podcast in your example without any problems. The few English-language podcasts in my playlist are spoken too quickly for me and are often in dialect. I'll get out there.

In addition to transcripts, they began creating separate episodes called Sherpa Snippets to try to capture only the best parts of each episode. They're still kind of long, but they also have Shorts that are very... short. ๐Ÿ˜
