Lots of dumb laws are still on the books.. here's one from Waynesboro, VA:

It is illegal for a woman to drive a car up Main Street unless her husband is walking in front of the car waving a red flag.

In Ft. Madison, Iowa:

The fire department is required to practice fire fighting for fifteen minutes before attending a fire.

Can you actually get arrested for not complying with those?

Actually, there have been times when law enforcement has used these types of Blue Laws to arrest or prosecute someone.. years ago, I remember in Rochester, NY they used a Blue Law regarding selling alcohol before 1pm on a Sunday to arrest a store owner. I mean, if you're going to allow alcohol sales at all.. what difference does it make what time it is??

I can relate. When I was 15, I owned a small gift shop and one lovely Sunday afternoon a police officer walked in with a summons for me to appear in court for violating the "blue laws". The judge ended up just brushing it off.
