Notice: Sedo System Updates

Hello Everyone,

There will be a large upgrade of the back-end parking system tonight.

Certain pages on the site (eg, stats), will be interupted.

However, the parking pages themselves should still function without a hitch, clicks and visitors will still be counted (although not updated until tomorrow- Wednesday).

New domains may still be added.

Once the upgrade is complete we'll have a faster-loading, more stable parking system-- and the foundation laid for some more dramatic improvements to be launched later this year!

Hi,

Just another quick update. We did complete the move to faster loading parking pages earlier this week. The rest of the updates however are taking longer than we had originally expected. Our tech team has been working non stop to implement all the changes as it is important to all of us that our system be running smoothly as soon as possible.

There are currently some issues associated with our parking tools (the keyword optimizer), our technical team expects to have it running smoothly within the next few hours. When it's complete keywords pending approval will be worked through as will optimization requests.

Just tested these: bambocha.com, del.no, wildpoker.co.uk, amb.no, pg.no, lunsj.com. It's 6 out of 700 names.

DoS attack against Sedo's parking program

Hello from Sedo,

The cluster for serving the websites for the Sedo parking program has been attacked by a Bot network or a sophisticated attacker since this afternoon. We are experiencing a SYN flood attack with spoofed IP addresses as the source.

Before getting into details, we want to assure you that we will fully compensate you for the revenue loss that occurred because of the DoS attack.

The tech team is working together with third-party consultants who are experienced in dealing with DoS attacks to get this issue resolved. To give you an idea of the size of the attack: We would need about 200 additional servers to handle the SYN traffic coming in.

The immediate measures against such an attack are very limited. We do have two of the best routers available on the market in front of our network. These routers catch all DoS attacks which can be caught automatically.

We have tuned server parameters and identified certain "evil" subnets which are now filtered. As a result, the load on the system has started to decrease. We continue to filter specific nets and patterns until our system is operational again.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Let me assure you again that all loss in revenue will be compensated.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. The good news is after hard work from our technical team in collaboration from outside consultants, Sedo's parking program was back up and running yesterday!

We have certainly gained a lot of experience during the attack which will help us to fight future problems.

Our goal is that you are fully compensated for any loss. From what we know, the DDoS attack started Saturday afternoon, but we are even looking at earlier stats. We will keep you updated.

Well, good news, but can't add domains right now...

I'm quite impressed by Sedo right now! =) I sent them an email Saturday telling my domains didn't resolve, just before Mara told us about the DoS attack.

Today I've received two emails from Sedo explaining the situation. I didn't expect any answer from them at all, at least not today!

For half an hour ago I also noticed I've already been compensated for Saturday!
