Here's a challenge
Think of your concept.
Think of your idea.
Think of your brand.
Think of your end user market.
Think of what you want to do.
THEN check the domains you want.
I think that people would be surprised, if not shocked, at the number of NON premium keyword brandable domains that are available.
It's a very clever thing that Verisign is doing. Create an "exclusive" list. Publish it everywhere. People look THERE first. People get THEIR ideas from a list.
Buying premiums is great. Some people have bought AWESOME names but you have to remember what you're trying to accomplish and not be guided by what others are subversively telling you.
The list has been RIPPED apart and we're left with what we're left with. Lots of good names but lots of bad names and more importantly... lots of names that APPEAR good.
If you DO look at the premium list first - please make sure you THINK about the concepts, ideas, independently from the list. It can be enthralling to find a name on the list (they're all single keywords) and then have a huge idea pop into your mind... but have a cool down period.
There is money to be made.. but also money to be thrown away.
For example: White.TV is a great name. it's ONLY 1K. Dentists could love, Colgate would love it. The NationalFront and Nazis would love it.
But why would they prefer it over:
WhiteSmile.TV, Colgate.TV, NationalFront.TV etc etc...
NOT SAYING PREMS are BAD.
Just make sure it's a real premium that you can really benefit from.
I'm EYEING one myself (but I'm so anti-prem I only have one ) and I think that PINK.TV pick up today was GIANT! But potentially Trademark minefield.
