Here we go.

Lets say XYZ was a huge company in the 80s and 90s. The bought up a few smaller companies but in the end a few state and government agencies came in and shut them down for various reasons. And in the end they had to file bankruptcy.

What happens to there service trademarks/copyrights? I have looked at the US trademark office site and cant find and information on the companies.

Is it possible to rebrand something using their old mark?

Complicated question, very tough to answer. Too many factors like type of BR, if it is settled, how the trustee handled the BR, if the rights were retained or sold or given to a creditor... but chances are, someone could own the rights, it would be a matter of whom.

yeah this is what I am thinking. I dont know if this will shed any more light on it. Basicly this is the deal . Im asking because I came accross a bunch of items that I know would sell very well that have to do with this company. The company has been out of business for around 12 years. They where shut down, sued, bankrupt, etc.

Is is a small market of sorts, but I have never been able to find any info about who if anyone owns the TM, or copyrights to the products in question. I was able to find a few items from one of the companies on the US copyright website and the copyright is live, but the company went under many years ago.

So I just figured maybe someone on here might have some info on things like this.
