No More Handreg Domains!

So as most of you know I don't handreg too many domains .. but just tried now!

However at both GoDaddy and Epik it seems hand-registrations are down .. kinda curious what sort of world it would be if there was no more hand-registrations possible! Talk about an explosion in the aftermarket .. all our half decent domains would double++ in value almost overnight and only go up from there!

Anyhow .. feel free to discuss a world without handreg .. in the meantime @Joe Styler @Rob Monster @Paul Nicks @Sufyan Alani .. any idea what's going on? Is Verisign down and finally giving the world an excuse to break their damn contract with ICANN?

Could be connection issue with V as I noticed a few other US based sites were timing out a few hours ago.

I'm kind of relieved if it's down at the moment as I've been on a mad registration spree

Looks like a lot of GoDaddy's services are down right now - can't access my domain list and my websites that are hosted on GoDaddy aren't resolving.

Initially an explosion perhaps, but killing hand-regs would eventually also kill the aftermarket. Something else like a blockchain-based internet would come and fill the void..quickly.

There is something wrong globally. A number of websites are partially available. Afternic is up for me for example, some other (non-domaining) stuff is down.

Now we will see what registrars and hosting companies are REALLY stable, I mean really and not just in heads of their PR departments.

Yeah I've noticed issues today with timeouts.

I honestly don't know how they envisioned the internet surviving a nuclear attack when it can go screwy on a normal Sunday.

I've personally tried to bring stuff to Godaddy's attention for over a year that they just ignore....

Literally I cannot make a payment on their site and when I try to get help, they just tell me to do what I've already done, and when they won't accept that as an answer, I just get blamed as if I've done something wrong or haven't given them enough information.

When Godaddy doesn't even give a #$%@ whether customers can pay or not on their website, that's pretty bad.

I called GD .. they said know issues for a couple hours .. I since was able to add to my cart .. but then couldn't pay .. eventually could.

NameSilo seems to be down now as well with the standard CloudFlare error page.

Oh...yeah, I remember now, I put domain in my cart then can't finish the payment in Godaddy, so I use vpn tried to change to some different country then it worked.
and I thought that was my home internet problem...

Godaddy is probally more effective when it isnt working rather than speaking to a member of staff that cannot help you regain your account after having lost your phone which if they cant send 2fa to the phone you lost access to you effectively lose your account
