I was just thinking it would be great if the OP of the thread had an option to post a thread with an option to enable no-index, i.e the thread won't be picked up by search engines and get indexed.
I am not sure about the technical aspects of this, nor whether it can be implemented, but it would be a great feature to have.

Many users don't want their domains indexed in google for many reasons.
What if your perfect end-user ready to shell out $xxx or $x,xxx for a name is researching domains on google, finds your firesale thread of $25 and buys that name off you?
What if you put your name in the appraisal section and you get responses of $xx? Will the end-user not be more careful?

Anyways i'd think this will be a great thing to implement. ;)

It would seem to me an issue of customization for any one particular thread/post/member ... and to what extent I am not sure from a pure coding perspective; would you be willing to pay NP$'s for this individualized feature ... and, more generally, do you think there is broader demand across the community for this option/customization (and what would be the fair & reasonable cost in our currency, NP$'s)? :gl:
IYHO.

Kind regards,

Interesting suggestion. This mat be a good alternative to making a whole sub-forum non-indexable as we have done in the past.

The scripts would have to check the database for indexing status and insert a <META name="ROBOTS" content="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW"> tag into the HTML. At least I would think this be a lot easier than messing with robots.txt or sitemaps.

Ya thats what i was thinking along.
That way we can have private threads and the sales also won't get indexed by search engines.
Would be great if this can be done.

Interesting concept.

I'd be in favor for it so long as we can ensure scammers can't abuse this feature.

I guess per-thread modification is not possible without vbulletin plugin.
But per-sub forum modification is possible (for example preventing all threads on "Offers Wanted", etc)
