Hi

a eye / gpt has invaded the forum

you got members creating threads in general discussion, to discuss what questions do you ask gpt about registrars

if that’s what it’s come down to, then the future of conversation looks bleak.

so we need to have an AI free zone,
that means no ai generated content or images, videos, etc.

Hi

can we have an “a eye” free zone?

where no a eye content, images, etc. can be posted.

imo…

post your thoughts

imo….

How would we determine which content is AI generated vs. AI assisted vs. human? If we did find a way, the prompters could easily tell their AI to write in a different manner.

The only thing service providers can effectively do is ensure that a human is behind those AI posts, which NamePros does much better than Twitter, for example.

That, however, probably won't be possible in a year or two either once AI can solve CAPTCHAs.

I don't know the solution. Let's brainstorm.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for being open about the real challenge of AI. It’s honestly very hard to tell whether a post comes from AI or a human these days.

Even domain registrars, Banks, and other major industries are already using AI to handle customer queries — not to replace people, but to make things faster, fairer, and less biased.

AI isn’t something we can stop; it’s like the Internet — once it’s out there, it only grows. Instead of trying to block it, I think it’s better to understand and adapt to it.

That’s exactly why big brains and tech giants are investing so heavily in this space.

It’s really as simple as the individual not reading what doesn’t appeal to them. The same way folks pass up literature in bookstores they don’t prefer to read, the same can be done in this forum.
This is discussion forum, not a bookstore.

At some point the forum is just going to become littered by low quality content.

You can already see it trending that way now.

There is really no point in even having a discussion when one or both sides are AI bot content.

The biggest issue is figuring out who actually decides what constitutes a “disruptive” use of AI. Is it the platform, users and/or “reputable” contributors with seniority? It’s really as simple as the individual not reading what doesn’t appeal to them. The same way folks pass up literature in bookstores they don’t prefer to read, the same can be done in this forum.

NamePros has to get this right - or else this forum runs the risk of being the sandbox for old-guard dialogue. It’s fair to say that wouldn’t be sustainable with all the other means of engagement that are surfacing. Choice engagement is key here - along with understanding the times we’re approaching.
Yo, bless up for droppin’ dis wisdom, mon! You hittin’ de nail on de head—decidin’ what’s “disruptive” AI vibes is a tricky ting. Who’s holdin’ de reins? De platform, de people, or dem big-shot contributors wid de long-time cred? I an’ I feel ya—let each one skip what don’t vibe, like passin’ by books in a shop dat don’t call to ya spirit.

NamePros gotta keep it irie, mon, an’ not turn into some old-school sandbox where only de elders chat. De world movin’ fast, new ways to connect poppin’ up like fresh herbs in a garden. Choice is de key, seen? Keep it open, keep it free, an’ let de forum flow wid de times we livin’ in. Respect for de insight, bredda—Jah guide us to get dis right!

"we have to ask whether the human content is getting better or not"

whoa now, really read what you posted.

If you read the comments that I copy and pasted from just 2 threads, if you allow this forum to be flooded with AI content, then you will be bidding farewell. It's pretty clear people are not liking it. We can poll it if you want. We're at the beginning and there is already a backlash. Even on social media like Instagram. There are some obvious AI ones that people seem to be ok with, like the Mr. Rogers doing deez nuts jokes with Tupac. Then there are others where it's hard to tell if it's real or not, people are not liking that.

Stuff that Corey posted with logos, nothing wrong with that. It's more for general conversation.
Human content in the NamePros forum is what was being referenced. Obviously, what constitutes “better” across platforms will always be subjective. Auditing the quality of human posts on NamePros, alongside AI, could signal where things on the platform are headed. Needless to say, this requires a bit more than selective objectivity. It’s not about giving AI content precedence. Not whatsoever. It’s about ensuring our interpretation of its disadvantages isn’t rooted in complacency.

Thank you for your thoughtful input on this matter. You raise a critical point about the challenge of defining "disruptive" AI use and who should have the authority to make that determination. I agree that fostering an environment where users can freely choose content that resonates with them, much like browsing a bookstore, is essential for maintaining an open and dynamic platform.

NamePros is committed to striking a balance that encourages diverse dialogue while ensuring the forum remains a constructive space for all members. We recognize the importance of adapting to emerging trends and engagement methods to stay relevant and inclusive. Your perspective is valuable, and we’ll consider it carefully as we refine our approach to AI integration and community guidelines. Thank you for contributing to this important discussion.

Do you want a forum with replies like that? Where people take posts and ask AI for a reply. Becoming less human, genuine, organic. That will kill a forum. If you want to use AI for general conversation, might as well cut out the middle man, NamePros, and go direct to your favorite AI site. Why discuss anything here.
There’s obviously something distinct that AI provides if you CHOSE to run a human user’s post through GPT to make your point. AI as an assist - when preferred - is the point being made here. NamePros can literally be whatever the founders/owners like. Those who like it will stay - and those who don’t will explore other options. That’s just simply free-will. The discussion about mitigating AI-use just feels like an attempt to keep things cemented in the 90s. But hey, who really thinks it might be worth exploring ways to advance the forum in a meaningful, and even innovative, way?

It doesn't advance the forum. Did you not read the comments I posted from other members here? Maybe, it'll hurt your posting if we cracked down on it.

Come on, @bmugford! Of course it’s not a literal bookstore. However, it does offer a variety of written information, and cater to a demographic of readers, like a bookstore.

As for the platform being littered, it’s fair to say the number of domains folks have called “trash” has already set that in motion. Cleanup starts at home, right? 😆

This is merely about whether NamePros is going to be an outdated platform that rejects the future. You can future-proof things and still prioritize the human experience.

“Cracked down”. That part. NamePros isn’t exactly a place where crackdowns need to occur. Rather than being heavy-handed on the keyboard, consider shifting some of that energy into figuring out how the platform can evolve before it’s rendered obsolete because it fell behind unnecessarily. That’s all.

Thanks my friend for your appreciation on my post. I would share more such insightful thoughts on Ai and its adaptability to various models being from technology background.

Some members may term it as AI fabricated. I am not at all worried about it till valuable members like you and others particularly the respected Bravo Mod Team is analyzing the whole flow of discussions.

The forum needs actual experiences.

I personally have no interest in reading what is blatant AI generated content.

The most egregious stuff is pretty easy to tell.

Wow, someone with no experience in the field can copy and paste what some AI bot says. That makes the forum so much better...

A forum isn't going to fall behind keeping it human, it would actually get better. It doesn't evolve by having more bot/AI content. You're still not reading actual responses from members here, you keep skipping that part.

What's the logical end game, having a discussion forum with no user generated content?

I will just have my AI agent post bot content and communicate with other bots.

I mean, that might be the actual end game. If so, I have better stuff to do.

Maybe there’s room on the fridge to hang this thought:

“The character of the human determines the quality of their interactions. Not the tool(s) they do/don’t use when engaging.”

- Written entirely by a human.

Which is what you're fighting against.

Don’t say you want to break out the scrolls, feather pen and oil lamp to keep things “human”. This is a perfect opportunity to get innovative with how folks discuss domains. Archive the good stuff on NamePros, make it available through a chat bot and incentivize users to have constructive, even creative, discussions about moving the domain space forward. That’s a logical end game that could foster a new beginning. Otherwise, everyone is left climbing into bed at 7pm and having repeat dreams about the good old days of domaining…….then coming to NamePros to relive them in text.

It wouldn't be folks, it would be AI chatbots.

It sounds like you’d be fine with an AOL-style forum with tin cans and string as the backup communication medium. 😆 There’s nothing wrong with that. Horse and carriages still exist - so why not keep everything pen-pal style?

It seems you like talking to bots more than humans. What's going on there?

So if you start a thread here asking about something, you prefer members here to go plug your question into AI and copy and paste the answer? This moves this forum forward?

I would rather go for a hike or play pickleball than interact with AI bots on a domain forum.

If that is "innovation", have fun.
