Hi

a eye / gpt has invaded the forum

you got members creating threads in general discussion, to discuss what questions do you ask gpt about registrars

if that’s what it’s come down to, then the future of conversation looks bleak.

so we need to have an AI free zone,
that means no ai generated content or images, videos, etc.

Hi

can we have an “a eye” free zone?

where no a eye content, images, etc. can be posted.

imo…

post your thoughts

imo….

Let's have everyone clarify what they mean by this.

Which of these do you want:
  1. No AI content anywhere.
  2. A section with no AI content, such as the Editable Discussions section.
  3. Something else?

For whichever you choose, please explain how it'd help.

For example, if you choose #2, then how will that improve this situation? There are already sections that are coincidentally free of AI content.

We need more clarity on this.
It’s also worth acknowledging which “types” of AI certain folks want to be addressed here. Just saying “AI” in general encourages a blanket rejection of the technology itself. Does NamePros want to become THAT platform where technical evolution is treated like the plague? Probably not when you consider many people won’t be able to distinguish certain types of AI content from that created by humans. So, is the gripe here in the forum about AI text, videos and/or links to AI content outside the platform? This is a question that should also be posed.

mmmhhhmmmmm..... I agree with that, as seen in one of my previous posts referenced below regarding an article written way before the conception of AI that got flagged:
Ok, for nostalgia, I went back in time to the year 2009, way before browser and chat based AI assistants were even available anywhere.

Imagine if you will, a time and place that existed without AI, just to find out that...

Next Stop.... The Twilight Zone!!!

The following is a 2009 NamePros Blog article written by @Peter - https://www.namepros.com/blog/securing-your-domain-name-from-theft.584749/

Even though it was written almost 2 decades prior to the insertion of AI assistant technology, it was still pegged to be 57% AI generated with a 21% mix and only 23% Human written.

2009-article.png

The above is just one of many different possible examples of how hard it may be to accurately detect AI content.

Unless of course, we really are entering the Twilight Zone! (That was one of my favorite TV shows as a kid, by the way) ;) -- dedo dedo, dedo dedo, dedo dedo.....

Don't you know who Peter is? He's from the future, there are a few of us here. His article from 2009 was written via AI.

He's been dropping clues.

His last post here, was the last day of the year, Dec 31, 2023, there is a 1/365 chance of that happening. Why the very last day of the year? Think about it.

What did he say in his last post?

"You could always try Geocities.... oh wait 15 years too late."

"15 years too late" 15 years from 2009 is 2024. He posted that the day before.

Go thru his posts, take notes, put the puzzle together, and you'll have the answer to the biggest question in the world. It's been there all along.

This is the big clue I added to my post above:

"You could always try Geocities.... oh wait 15 years too late."

Article was from 2009. 15 years later would be 2024. His very last post here was Dec. 31, 2023, literally the day before we hit 2024. He can't post after that.

One of you put it together and write a book about how the universe started. It becomes a best seller, changes life as we know it, you become very rich and move out in the wilderness.

Will give you one last clue to get you going

Peter = Peter Atkins author of

Conjuring the Universe: The Origins of the Laws of Nature

https://www.amazon.com/Conjuring-Universe-Origins-Laws-Nature/dp/0198813376

One of you take that book and then read the clues here for the "final book" on the topic that you write.

I've said too much.

I think this posting by @AEProgram provides one of the most balanced views.

Personally, I think that that NIC account's daily posts are really annoying. Some other accounts are frustrating as well, especially those that act as a direct AI proxy with no editorial oversight.

^^^like the ones with a mile of spacing between each sentence, sentences broken into 2 separate lines, icons on every line, etc, etc.. Zero effort to edit or humanize it for consumption...

I can see your members getting frustrated when a decent conversation gets interrupted by a robot.
On with the show, this is it.

Hi

I’d prefer general discussion be a eye free zone and any other discussion section require the OP to disclose that their post is ai generated

it will help to insure that members are using their own brain to conceive their questions or concerns and will give those who reply the confidence that they are communicating with real human beings

Merriam-Webster named ‘slop’ as its 2025 Word of the Year, defined as “digital content of low quality that is produced usually in quantity by means of AI.”

I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen people just post, create, reply, make AI generated content that makes so sense...

The People doing this are lazy, have no idea what they're talking about and have put 0 effort into learning....they are regressing......

I didn't say it made everyone dumb.....
Hi

above is unsolicited comment based on their own disgust of a eye posting

imo….

The problem we are going through and already face, is that we humans begin to be banned as being bots, by popular websites such as Linkedin, Tiktok and others, forcing us to do KYC by sharing our personal data, selfies and face id. I have try to login to my Linkedin and was prompted to pass KYC, when I saw that I left that website did not try to login again. Same thing with Tiktok had a prompt but it was gone after sometime, that I was detected as bot. Also I had to do KYC to activate my old FB account, this is ridiculous.

If we think a little bit better, we will realize soon that this is done for copying our identity and not our security, time to leave those platforms. Imagine in the future you have Face id stored for your own security in the apps or bank or other place, big corps have your stored Face id, that is when they get free access to your data, we are nearing that time if you don't obey the system you will perish, believe me they will favor bots over humans, like they do with woke stuff, probably this is also part of that agenda.

At the end of the day, I think type 1 of AI (Analytical + educational) is more harmless than the other type 2 (Spam + Unfiltered/unedited). The focus, (If any) should probably be directed more at the type 2 ai (In my opinion).

Thanks, Lyon. You appear to be in “lion mode” in this image. However, is it practically possible to restrict spambots while keeping AI systems unrestricted? Many so-called spam emails are generated by large companies that send thousands of messages under the guise of newsletters, updates, product announcements, new services, or “breaking news.”
