There are many problems with the domain type, and unless you have premiums like 1000.org it really isn't worth it.
1. ORG is currently being used as the non-profit domain type for the most part, not enough people use it otherwise.
2. For these non-profits, they want to have a name to represent their company not a number.
3. Their are 10,000 of these domains and I assume that if they do get bought out, about 14% of them will drop every year greatly reducing the price.
4. There are so many of these that everyone is going to be trying to sell low in order to compete in the market.
5. Another factor that is going to bring down the price is the fact that there aren't going to be any if many sales, and people are going to lose hope in them thus letting them drop. Before they do drop, people are going to sell them for reg or lower than reg price in order to cut their losses. When this happens, they take the whole market down with them greatly reducing prices.

The reason that LLLL.com took off was because consumers associate .com with the internet for the most part, and companies liked the simple and easy to remember four letter combination that matched or made sense with their company.
Other types of interesting domains such as l-l-l.com took off because they were interesting and also rare.
In my opinion I would greatly suggest that you do not spend around $9 per domain for this miserable domain type. Do what you will, but always take caution because your money's on the line.
Sincerely, Jake Cohen.
