The Bad
  • No favicon - You should have a favicon for your site for bookmarking purposes. It doesn't just add to the look of the site, but it also helps people associate your site with a simplistic icon.
  • The color scheme doesn't work - Why did you pick purple and black? There is no purple with the Nintendo systems. I really feel that you should incorporate Nintendo colors to your forum to make people better associate your forum with Nintendo.
  • You need a logo - I believe you need a logo for your site. Besides your site just saying your name there really has to be a graphic to associate your site with.
  • Too many ads - Your site has too many intrusive ads that take away from the value of the site.
  • Too much text at top - There is too much text at the top. The problem is that the forum is too far down and the user has to scroll to reach it every time.
  • Forum links - I don't think the forum links on the left should be there. It takes away from the site to see links every single time.

The Good
  • Fast load - Your site loads quite fast and that is good for the user. I have been to some forums that load quite slow and it sucks.

Overall
I think the site has potential, it is a great name, and could be developed. It still needs quite a bit of work however.

Detailed Analysis

NintendoPoint presents a nice clean layout and offers a good variety of content for visitors wanting to discuss Nintendo products. It has a good professional feel and navigation is as easy as playing Tic Tac Toe. There is obviously a lot of room for improvement to get the forum going, but you've got your bases set solid and this will provide a good spring board.

When I think of Nintendo, I don't particular think of purple. That is what your forum's main colour is however - are you sure you don't want to introduce any other colours? I know it is a big choice to make, but as your forum gets larger, I am sure members will find that there is a bit too much purple. Maybe even a simple colourful banner might make the difference. However, the skin is great - regardless of colour. It presents a nice blend in with the whole site overall.

Your menu at the top is great. Navigation is simple. You might want to fix your spelling error on "New Realeases". Same goes to the bottom menu. Same spelling mistake.

How about your "Privacy Policy | Terms of Service" and "Interested in advertising on NP?"? It leads straight to the top of the page! You should also fix that ASAP. For your Google Ads at the bottom, the background colour of that box is grey and I picked that up quite quickly as I scrolled down. You might want to consider turning the background from grey to white.

As your forum becomes larger, you will probably have to start a website for it. Just a small website about Nintendo news that your members might also want to contribute too. You will also get more members through this website and in the end will benefit you greatly. Everyone who likes Nintendo must like gaming > Try finding a forum arcade to entertain your members.

You've got a great forum starting here, and I congratulate you for the progress so far. Try advertising at larger gaming forums then start some competitions as incentives. Good luck!

Forum review

Hi. First of all, the portal is very well integrated with the forum. Second, the template looks really nice and unique. The colours and borders are nice, the buttons are beautiful and the logo is wonderful. Third, the forum and categories structure looks good, but you might want to add more categories and forums to your forum.

Good luck with your site!

Overall Rating: 9/10

Regards. :)

I honestly like it man. I agree maybe to many ads to start out with. Once the forum increases maybe put up ads. I think your color scheme looks good. I would only like to say is this. At the top maybe center margin your text links.

Actually, the Nintendo GameCube is purple, as well as one of the GameBoy Colors, and also the original GameBoy Advanced. :)

Although some people consider it blue, the actual color is the same as the color on NintendoPoint.com, so it shouldn't matter. I think the colors work well and fit with the new look Nintendo has been going for..

Although now with the new Wii, they are going for looking like iPod, all white and light grey and whatnot.

Great name, great potential. :)

Site: NintendoPoint.com

Up's
» Nice Design. very simple
» :tu: for the banner
» Nice Activity.
» Nice Hover Buttons.

Down's
» The ' Interested in advertising on NP? It is simple! Just click here and you will recieve information, our rates, and advertising prices ' link does not work, and the Privacy Policy | Terms of Service links doesn't work either.
» I think you should remove the ' Underline ' effect on the links. and transfer it to hover effect.
» You need a new maintitle, The maintitle doesn't really match on the Skin, You should have a purple maintitle or a dark purple one.

Thank You,
- Janine
