Hi guys, i am not really a domainer, i am more a marketing and SEO guy, i develop projects, what i know is that each time a hot product is launched, millions of searches of "buy product name" will occur, i am sure domainers know that too, So i was lucky enough to be the first to register www.buynexusone (dot) com

If the rumors are true, the Nexus One is expected to be released in January 2010, and needless to say, it will be a Success, i mean it doesn't matter if the phone is good or not, a lot of people will buy it. i am thinking about developing the website to sell the phone when it is released, or just selling the domain, that's why i wanted to ask you guys, how much is this domain worth ?

Looks like you fell prey to the old registrar technique of selling names that are TM'ed without consequence. They don't care because they make a lot of money off the uninformed and most do not grace delete, so it's free money for them.

One can only hope that someday a law will be passed forcing registrars to be more responsible. Let's face it, it is not unlike a pawn shop that knowingly sells hot items and not caring because they will not be required to have any shred of responsibility even though they are complicit in the act, or a dope pusher who sells drugs off the street and will not be taken to task for it.

One can only hope, I guess.

thank you guys, so it's worth $0 from a domainer perspective, i was aware of a possible tm issue, i guess i'll just develop the website and sell the phones then. i have a lot of live websites with brand names on them (like car names, game consoles names, singer and celebrity name).. to be exact i have 100's like those. i have been doing this for 6 years and the only company that sent me a complaint in those 6 years is twitter, i admit however that they were very kind and only asked me to change the domain and let it expire..

I am not saying there is no TM issue, all i am saying is that as a website developper (not a domainer) for me it's worth taking the risk since from my experience, as long as you are not doing them bad publicity you will be fine most of the times, even PaypalSucks (dot) com is still up and running, i also had 3 iphone websites (cases, ringtones and unlocking), and after a while i just gave up because there were atleast 1000's of iphone websites which also had the word "iphone" in their domain competing against me.. so as i said my domain is worth 0 dollars from a domainer perspective, yet it can and will make thousands of dollars when the phone is out.

Risky.

I got a C&D for a buyPHARMAPRODUCTHERE.com name many years ago. I had it simply show an embedded purchase page from on online pharmacy.

Now granted that is a combination of risky ventures, but suffice it to say that we let the domain drop upon receipt of the C&D from the pharmaceutical company lawyers.

In other cases, we've developped enthusiast communities built around product names without problem from the TM holder - in some cases there were company staffers actively participating (albeit incognito to the general community)...

If you have other non-TM projects or domains, best to develop those before venturing onto slippery terrain.
