Hello,

I have started to develop my newly acquired TV's. I plan to add video at a later date but first things first.

www.Bakeware.tv
www.DogCare.tv
www.Vinyl.tv
www.GpsDevices.tv
www.PClaptops.tv

Many more coming soon. I'm sure I may receive some criticism regarding how these names don't directly tie into television/broadcasting/streaming video. Well, it is nice when they do, but I hope and believe the TV extension will have a broad and diverse scope eventually.

I do also own connect(.tv) and others which I believe are ideally suited to television/cable/satellite/telecommunications. I am initiating development on connect(.tv) and others too.

But my experience with domain names started with a few purchases in 1996 and the launch of an online business which became a leader in it's field. Being in a position to register such strong, short and sweet keyword based domains at fair prices in 2010 seems to me to present us with excellent development opportunities, even if the domains are not directly tied into television or streaming video. Only time will tell.

Best,

Claude

Hi Claude,
#1; Congrats on your ".TV" developments! :yell:

Regarding what you've stated above and also your "even if the domains are not directly tied into television or streaming video" ... question; WHY else would one choose or consider an ccTLD ".TV" if not for "television" / video-centric content? :-/
IYHO.

Kind regards,

First of all, many congrats on developing such nice sites!

The last sentence of your post is a big claim and needs to be substantiated by some evidence. I think .tv names are for four kinds of users:

i. Television/satellite channels

ii. Generic words that fit the extension such as travel, business, forex etc

iii. Geo names such as France, Spain, etc

iv. Brandable words such as amazing, black, rose, etc

Whilst developing .tv names, just adding a few video clips to the site does not serve the purpose. In order to make it different from .com etc, it needs to be developed differently otherwise the fate of .tv will stay unchanged. The importance of .tv or .me is due to their dictionary meanings. As far as the respective countries are concerned, they are unknown to the majority of the world population. :)

Makes me want to shop at Amazon.

The affiliation is TOO strong. Try something a little more subtle.

I think it's better if the affiliate ads almost just blend into your site rather than looking like the FOCUS of it.

It's a good start though.

Hey Claude,

Very nice start.

Your headers all look very cool with some great pitures thats for sure, but nowhere in any headers of your sites do I see the actual name of your site...

"Bakeware.tv" etc.

My belief is the name is #1, and if visitors don't bookmark it, It's highly unlikely they will make it back to your site because of course they wont remember the true site name and/or tld of ".TV"

Just my 2 cents...probably not even worth that, lol

But It is cool to see something up there.
Don't Stop Brother!

Take Care,
Vito.

...an inexpensive alternative to the unavailability of the keyword in other extensions...and refusing to pay the king's ransom for same name in other extensions...and the extension is cool...and it is catching on in the cyberworld...and more and more people are using the extension...and it ain't being stopped by convoluted rationales and...a few more reasons, I guess... :bah:

BLONDE.TV

Sexy Bikini Designs

good luck to all that take the gamble and take the time to do something with their names ......instead of joining the que of .com parking names

While the aftermarket values .Net more highly than .TV & I will still argue that .Net is easier to rank at Google than .TV, I disagree that a .TV site has to be video-oriented. A site which is visually appealing makes it more memorable regardless of the extension but when people search for any topic they generally don't search for topic+videos (if they want topic+videos they can go to Youtube). If a search engine ranks a .TV site high enough that it is selected by a visitor I doubt seriously a visitor is going to quickly exit merely because the site isn't loaded with videos. If the site has relevant information, photos & videos related to the topic, there is likely to be some engagement with the visitor. How traffic is monetized is a different topic but it is much easier to acquire a .TV domain with search volume at an economical price compared to the comparable .net or .com. That will lead developers to seek out the extension and holders of .TV domains. The elimination of premium renewals for the vast majority of .TV domains just helps to promote adoption of .TV further (yes, still in the early stages).

If this is really what you believe then would you shed some light on the USP of .tv? Why should someone take .tv different from .cc or .ws?

PS. I am an investor in .tv names (a very small investor though) and I am not here for bashing any extension at all. However, this is my firm belief that if healthy discussion is suppressed, it's not good for any of us.

- .TV can be branded more easily
- .TV is very easy to remember even though the tv.com version of the domain will be very happy if revelant .tv gets popular
- simple website in .TV can be later migrate into a video website
- .TV is more popular than .CC, .WS at least in Europe

Good job, Claude. The pet industry is really a good niche, as is the gps niche. I used to make good money selling garmin gps units via an affiliate program.
