Hi everybody-I'm here with my tail between my legs. They say the first thing you have to do is admit you have a problem. Here's mine: I thought I was so smart, that it couldn't be that difficult - shoot, everybody has one! Humph! Fooled me! I jumped in head first - before I had even learned enough HTML to get by (I know "enough" now-too little too late!) I have 2 disorganized, un-optimized sites that make 0 money! (in my signature below)

I started using a site builder (I tried, Tripod-nice, but too much spyware- GeoCities - yuk -and Bravenet - I'm a fan!), but soon found out that I would HAVE to learn some coding - if I didn't know where stuff started and ended, I may delete the wrong thing. There are times when I have had to edit and it became obvious I better get busy learning how. HOWEVER, I have not stopped using the site builder - it's so easy! And IMO I think they look pretty decent.

Then, I didn't know about marketing, and promotion, and affiliates, etc. Again, I jumped in blindly and after 6 months of 0 income, Commission Junction kicked me out! (Oh well, I wasn't pleased with them and their lack of support anyway)

The way I see it - I'm back at square one and need some guidance.

So, here I am, folks, your latest "basket case!" :hehe:

Yes, we all started at some basic point. I used FreeWebs for my first site :p

If you want to get into it, I suggest Joomla CMS. Not much coding knowledge required, and has a strong backbone to run a site. My site runs on Joomla, no problems at all.

There's a lot to learn here about marketing and promotion. I've learnt a lot at NamePros about $ making. Hope you find a lot of useful information :)

Welcome and enjoy it here!

Welcome to NamePros!

Welcome!

You're cool...I was about 35 years old before I decided it would be better to learn from other peoples' experience rather than keep doing things the hard way! ;)

You have found the best domaining community around, and one of the finest online communities of any kind. Given that, and your desire to learn, you're way cool!

Many happy returns.

Regards,
Keith

Hello genihanna,

Welcome to NamePros first of all.

Well everyone started from square-one. And although everything now might seem a little hard and confusing, after time you'll get used to it.

Using free hosts definately isn't recommended, try getting a google ads account and a very cheap CPanel host to host your sites.

All the best!
Rhett.
