Newbie help setting up ringtones website

Hi all, I came across this website while doing a Google search for how to start a ringtones business. The thread is seriously old and has since been closed. The thread suggested an affiliates program for a ringtones site, but, I'd prefer to not do that.

Can any of you point me in the right direction for getting some good info on setting up a ringtones website?

Are you after giving out ringtones for free/paid? Unless you are going to be creating your own ringtones then from a legal perspective an affiliate program would probably be the best way to go.

Have you also researched the market? I'd say the ringtone industry definitely isn't what it used to be, with the simple ability to just send MP3's via bluetooth to most mobiles today and use them, in contrast when it used to be difficult to do this for free!

Thank you all for responding. I do realize that the ringtones market is not nearly as lucrative as it used to be. Basically, I'm just looking to get my feet wet. My interest is to setup up some sort of site offering ringtones (or whatever) in the hopes that I could generate some money via some kind of CPA marketing.

I'm quite new at this and I feel completely stupid about all of it, but, I do appreciate your help.

As for "a certain web application" you guys are talking in code as I have no idea what "web application" you are referring to.

For the ringtones site, I guess I would use a script for ringtones distribution. I've looked at a couple, but, they don't really look like what I need. I'll probably just have a friend create a simple PHP script for me.

Once it is created start working for the web host not vice versa.
