The hyphen was a risk I took because new york is a keyword strong enough to carry one. Even new-york.info sold for almost 23K. Also I have seen redundancy sell alot. I don't think horse.horse or UnitedStates.us, lol.lol, etc.. will be valueless because of the repeat or similar meaning. Branding can be a bt different from writing a research paper. Shout.shout lol

It's redundant indeed, but New York is not the same as New York City...

I do not feel the hyphen there, unless it targets German end users, which is not the case here.
I personally feel it will be very difficult to resale in 2017. If the resale indeed happen, it can fetch anything from low XXX to high XXX imo.
