Hey guys,
Well, I am very happy as of late because I have gotten a "new" pickup truck. It's new to my ownership, so that's why I'm calling it new. It's actually a 1987 Ford F150.
It belonged to my folks, my father has been the main driver for it ever since they bought it back in 1990. Anyway, he planned on taking it to the dump this Fall because it was so old and he figured it wasn't worth anything anyway. I ended up trading my nice mint 1992 Buick Skylark for this truck that's probably not worth $500 (especially with 230k!)
Anyway, I'm going to have the front right fender replaced (it's full of not only rust, but practical rot - see the pics for yourself.) I also have to have the rear main seal fixed on it because it has a leak in it. Both of those will probably cost $600 total.
After fixing it I'm going to try to jazz it up a bit. The first thing I'd like to do is get rid of that damn bench seat and put in some Otto-R racing seats (I'm guessing that will be a hassle though because of the stupid bracket and mounting stuff - but I'll see how it goes.) I'm also planning on buying an air-powered train horn set, roof cab lights, and a KC Litebar and a nice grill or bullbar on the front.
Here are some pictures of the truck:
56k safe:
The following pictures are about 550kb in size:
Close-up of the rust on the lower right of the driver's door:
Going to have a fun time taking off the retarded bumper stickers...
Close-up of the rust on the bumper:
Close-up of the deep rust area by the front right wheel well:
A different angle of the same area above:
Close up of the spotted rust area by the front right wheel well:
Close up of the rust that is about half a foot ahead of the passenger's door:
Well, I think this will be a fun thing for me to work on. The truck is old and could use a lot of fixings (mainly mechanical stuff) but I'd also like to make it look better and put some more masculinity back into it (can anyone say a 3" lift kit?)
Anyhoo, just thought I'd share. Are there any other pre-1997 Ford truck owners here?
