New to NamePros, and Domain Flipping...

Hello,

My name is Chris Palko and I am new to the NamePros Forum and to Domain Flipping in general.

I have joined in order to gain knowledge on the processes and on how to increase the value of my "web real estate".

I am currently a web/graphic designer. I offer my services locally for the most part and I have just started to venture off into freelancing on the internet. I see you guys have a marketplace area for designs so I'll be sure to check that out. I also own and operate YoungBusinessOwner.com.

I do have a few questions though:

Is there a fee to sell domains/services through NamePros?

Edit: Do I need so many posts before I can sell anything? I have no problem with building trust within your community before using the marketplace, I was just wondering though.

Is there any way to increase the value of my domains without generating revenue from them?

Hi Chris, welcome to NamePros.

From what I've heard, it helps to have a number of posts under your belt before selling anything to establish 'no, I'm not just a scammer'. I think it helps to get your name out there too so when you list a domain for sale, people can say 'hey, I've seen that guy/gal around, he/she writes some good posts. I think I can trust him/her'.

YoungBusinessOwner.com is visually appealing. I like it..is it your own design?

As far as increasing the value of a domain without making revenue, I would suggest building a website that brings in traffic. You could always sell ads on there to generate some revenue, but it's not necessary. As long as people have a reason to visit your site and return, the revenue can come later.

It seems that too many people will try to throw a 'mini-site' together and cover it in ads, which will always backfire (well, almost always). If the average joe can tell instantly that the page is nothing but ads, he's not going to stick around.

Thanks, Wayne, for the compliment on my site. Yes it is my own design, and I use WordPress for the software.

As far as building trust, I am going to make a lot of posts in the "noob" area and in other discussion forums before hitting the marketplace, so thanks for the advice.

And I don't plan on putting any "paid" ads on any of my sites for the time being being. I would like to generate some traffic (to increase value) but I would not like to make any money off that traffic, only from the sale of the domain/site.

im not aware of such a fee, you can freely post your domains for sale and products to offer here but just make it not so often like 1 ad per day is kewl, also make sure to help out a lot of people in your area of expertise that will build trust and long-lasting relationship.
