Hey everyone – I’m Mike. I’m newer to domain investing and diving in with a focus on building a lean, high-ROI portfolio. I’m using Afternic landers, pricing for BIN sales, and trying to focus on real-world, brandable .coms with commercial intent.

I’m here to learn and get better—and maybe connect with others doing the same.

Two questions for the group:

  1. What’s actually worked for you when it comes to getting exposure or attention to your domains? Any tips beyond just “list on marketplaces”?
  2. How do you approach pricing in a way that attracts offers but still protects your upside? Floor vs. minimum vs. BIN—what’s your sweet spot?
Appreciate any insight. I’ll be around and looking forward to contributing where I can.

Thank you! Right now that’s what I’m trying to learn about. What are some outbound strategies you’ve used in the past that have been successful?

There's already too many Mikes, might want to pick another industry jk jk

I don't think outbound is worthwhile for most domains, unless it is a perfect upgrade for a company. If it's a good domain, the buyer will find it. You will get more money if you wait for them, versus contacting someone not actively looking to buy.

My strategy is "set it and forget it". List the domains on as many marketplaces as you can, make sure they are categorized and classified properly, and just be patient. Work on other businesses or hobbies in the meantime. I will re-invest a portion from each sale into new domains, or if I find a must-have domain I might buy. But it must be good and upgrade the overall quality of my portfolio.

Looks like you're on the right track, just learn as much as you can about what makes a domain valuable and you'll do fine. Welcome to Namepros!

Story of my life being a Mike LOL

What do you do for pricing domains, that's one area I am trying to also figure out. I think I have a gut idea but would love your insights on how to set them.

May I please ask what is that pool of domains you have considering they're good domains and they keep selling from time to time

It really depends on the quality of domains. I choose to avoid domains that would sell for less than $2000, so my pricing is usually $2xxx, $4xxx, 7xxx, 9xxx, 14xxx, 19xxx, 24xxx, 29xxx, etc...

To get an idea what sells, say you have a domain that is Keyword1 + Keyword2 .com

I would search Namebio.com for past sales for domains starting with Keyword1 and then check sales for domains ending with Keyword2. That will give you an estimate of what those keywords might be worth.

1.
Set your prices at as many places as possible and forget about them. Skip AfterSick if possible. Network a lot, talk to people within your niche, if you have any. Engage in SM, private conversation, go to local rotary meetings (if possible), engage with entrepreneur and small business owners. Plenty of opportunity to mention a domain upgrade. You'd be surprised how many sales you can make by chatting casually about business when engaging with company owners. Offline conversation is a great way to sell online :)

2.
Don't worry about pricing yet, get that first sale in to keep you motivated.

Back to the question, it really depends on the strength of your portfolio, the size, what your targets are.

Best to have a mixture (imho), some willing to sell low, to get the cash flow going, 'protecting' your portfolio and livelihood as a domainer, some sure moneymakers, some moonshots. It's complicated and different for every one/portfolio.

Best of luck!

Glad you're diving into outbound! I’ve had good results with LinkedIn outreach and direct emails to relevant businesses—keeping it short, personal, and focused on how the domain can benefit them.
