Greetings,

So hello forum members/potential friends/ competitors :xf.smile:

After posting my first post earlier today with limited response I thought I would post another regarding questions I have come up with after browsing through previous threads...

  1. I mentioned in my previous post that ".com is king" which "like for like" is estimated to be worth 1000% more compared to ".net"... however hotels.net is worth substantially more than ArgentinianTractorTyres.com! So my question is: On a basis of 1-10 what are the most valuable TLD's by price/sales, volume/avg, sale aggregate + "branadability" (subjective I know) ...and yes I am a geek :xf.smile: I LOVE NUMBERS! I know it's only one aspect and doesn't include the creative aspect of domain acquisition but I want to know! (and also where you got the stats from!) :xf.wink:
  2. I may be new to domaining but I understand markets and the importance of the balance of supply and demand as well as liquidity....how do you feel the "domain industry" stands in this regard, if you've even thought about it? Example: Increased exposure to market = competition but also = liquidity ...thoughts?
  3. Appraisals for "branadble" domains....how do you arrive at a figure?...I'm obviously focused in this area more than others as most of mine are LLLLL.com and LLLLLL.com but how can they be appraised, should I trust BranBucke etc...
  4. Someone please explain the difference between "landing" and "parking" ...I'm assuming parking is just allowing a host/domain registrar to "park" i.e. use your domain name as a link and also a sales platform for not only yours but their site as well but landing?....anyone?...
  5. I guess the final and most poignant question regards someone venturing into domaining but specifically with a "brandable" domain and what the term really means. In my mind it's a generic word that may invoke some connotations but really doesn't "mean" anything by itself or without a product or service behind it.How would you define it?
  6. However there seems to be a lot of "brandable" domains being sold or talked about in the forum that I would constitute as being generic domains from particular sectors e.g. japancarimports (dot) com it could be used by many businesses importing Japanese cars and has some keyword searches but would you consider it a "brandable" domain in the same light as say hazano.com would be, even though that means nothing on its own?
I understand that many questions may have been asked and answered previously but I have looked for specifics especially regarding "brandable" names and am not satisfied. I'm sorry for the length of the post but thankyou for reading it all considering you got this far! please share and ANY info/advice regarding anything will be taken as a lesson.

P.S an F.A.Q. pr simple thesaurus with terms would be really helpful if it's not available.

Thankyou

Hi, we meet again..

1. The accurate compare would be hotels.net vs. Hotels.com, referring to your question.

2. Domain industry is not really a liquid one. As such, many domainers takes this as a side-job/hobby.

3. Well, you can take advantage on few tools such as searching for past sales on namebio.com. Moreover there are also criteria you should follow when buying and selling brabdables such as length, radio-test, spelling etc. you can find them on this forum..

4. I'll let someone else answer that as I can not give you the most detailed answer.

5. The term "Brandable" is very indefinite - it can come in various shapes and sizes, and not only as a connotational terms (for example RedBox.com is brandable imo)
It depends on ones POV.

Hope I helped..

Hi LoneDeranger, yes we meet again!....seems i must be doing something wrong as not many replys :xf.frown:

1) Question was:
So my question is: On a basis of 1-10 what are the most valuable TLD's by price/sales, volume/avg, sale aggregate + "branadability" (subjective I know) ...

So listed from best to worst what in general would be considered the rankings for TLD's e.g.
1.com
2).net
3).org
etc... are there any rankings out there with regards for "like for like" ..sorry if I was confusing you...

2)
Example: Increased exposure to market = competition but also = liquidity ...thoughts?

Domain industry is not really a liquid one. As such, many domainers takes this as a side-job/hobby.

So I guess that was my point; the market isn't as liquid as most other markets simply because of the "uniqueness" of the product i.e. every domain is different however to increase the liquidity would be a benefit to sellers as there would be more potential buyers however opening up/advertising the potential to others may also mean there would be more people to compete with when buying from auctions for example so not sure if the benefits out weigh the cons, was just interested if this had been discussed here before?

3)

Don't think previous sales would help too much when it came to non-generic names that I have e.g. Shalua (com) , Hazano (com) etc... no history can really tell me about the prospects, although length, radio-test and spelling i would definetly agree with....guess best way would be to get appraisal off this forum and maybe trust/test the market?

4) Yeah not sure about the differences, whether they are completely different or alternative phrases for the same thing?? ...FAQ/Terminology list anyone??

5) Yes I agree, seems to be no consistent definition; kind of frustrating as when people use the term I'm not sure which they are talking about?!

Anyway I'm here to learn so really appreciate you taking the time out to give your opinion /help me out!
If I can ever help you out in anyway, review blog, website then hit me up! (just don't ask me to appraise domains yet :xf.wink: )
