Smells like a scam with garlic sauce. Also, like those Indian calls I used to get weekly about my windows computer sending bad reports. They may be onto the mac users now; look out!

I actually got a call a few months back saying that they were doing random upgrades for lucky windows users around the globe and they will upgrade my windows 10 to a limited edition platinum version, with a host of upgraded features.

I asked him what he is wearing and if he can talk dirty to me..... hahahah that was the end of the call. ..lol

Thats a nice idea for a phone APP..... have loads of pre-recorded voice overs. Then you can add phone numbers to the "blacklists" in different groups... so when they phone you then they get directed to the recorded message for that group...lol

Like if these Microsoft guys phone it should redirect to a Pre-recorded message saying something like you have reach the Microsoft special investigations team in collaboration with Interpol this call is being tracked, expect a visit from us soon.

I wouldn't trust a spam notice from a spammer....

1.) Thanks to U guys for finding quick answer to Q. what this mail (received same) is about!
(Just registered to express this)

2.) Received exact same mail from:
Return-Path: <finley_scott-("myemail")[email protected]>
Received: from mail.domaincop.net ([37.61.222.140]

3.) Could not resolve IP 37.61.222.140 (at least not on who.is)

4.) Noticed that "domaincop.net" is too nice a domain to waste on scam?

5.) Noticed: Not only is Domain in Question just parked but also on "Private Registration" / Domain by Proxy with Godaddy. (No point asking them - since most likely the provider with the most lousy service on the net?)
So: How on earth did these scammers find my (correct) email-address?

Needless to say: Did not click on any of the links.... ;)

Once again: Thanks to all for sharing!

Did you purchased the godaddy whois protection when registering your domain or after?

Also, it looks like that scamers likes premium .net domains.

I keep getting some DOMAIN EXPIRATION SCAM from email like: [email protected]

Yep, I think these spammers realize that when using a decent domain name, like a good .net domain would have a better open rate compared to a cr@ppy cheap TLD. It also kinda makes them look a bit more credible...I mean domaincop.net looks like a decent domain name..

I had a really bad spam attack through one of my names recently.

This was handled by my host whilst I was asleep. I gather he redirected the name servers and blocked some of the inbound IPs. He alerted me to the problem in the morning. At no time was the domain name or registration involved, and the problem was resolved before any complaints could have made it through the domain name system.

This must be some sort of scam - it doesn't gel with the way the reputable Internet works.

Right from the start! ....which is why.....

But then again, I do have some serious doubts about Godaddy anyway. Lots of reasons for that. But I dont understand enough about many details to "nail them". ....Time to move elsewhere? Yes! Once I find a decent hosting-provider with at least some "customer service" deserving to be called that.

What can I do to fix it?
in this age, its always best to keep a copy of backup of all of your data.. and avoid any links and/or any suspicious email, double check the email address. It has been my practice from around 8 years now.
these kind of email can be v v dangerous for your data and security information. you must always have an updated antivirus with proper updates to your OS...

Haha...
Yep... I have been called out here on Namepros. But someone was foolish enough to bet on Jose Aldo. The wager was a domain into my account. :-D:$:

They are now "domaincopS.net" and with Enom. I submitted an abuse complaint with Enom, again the domain name is 1day old and already spamming. They even have a page set up now.

Same story with a different domain of mine

Received: from mail.domaincops.net ([198.175.127.112]) by mx-ha.gmx.net (mxgmx012 [212.227.15.9]) with ESMTP (Nemesis) id 0MOkHW-1cIUDx3qQI-0063Kf for <****@gmx.net>; Thu, 01 Dec 2016 15:45:53 +0100

Seems they survive only hours or days per try - yet they still do it - so enough fools must be falling for it?

Why does nobody remove people like that from our society?
Just "reporting" abuse really is not enough for that kind of scum. No?

Update: Response of ENOM: (Tatyana Petrischeva <[email protected]> )

Hello,

Thank you for your email regarding the domain name domaincops.net. While the domain name does have Namecheap.com as the registrar, we cannot oversee the data being transmitted through its website. We do not own the domain name mentioned in your complaint, we are simply the company the domain name was purchased from.

However, as we can see the domain name is listed in both SpamHaus DBL and SURBL blacklists. Since we consider SpamHaus and SURBL to be trusted organizations, we opened a case regarding the domain name. Please allow about 48 hours for our further investigation.
