Hello,

This is my first discussion topic that I would like to start here...

Hope this discussion goes on fair and without hurting any1.

I would like to discuss over new companies which have just put there steps towards hosting business.

I know many of the people here and everywhere believe that only established companies with a nice price tag of almost around $5 per month for smallest web hosting plan can give you best support and uptime. No doubt they can give you nice uptime but what about the support... leaving some companies all other big and established once do not offer you what you should actually get.

Companies with a huge customer base receives a large number of hosting support requests from there customers daily which they can not fulfill on time. Thus resulting in delay and some times inconvenience to the customer.

Where as on other hand new companies or mid level companies that just arrived or been in industry for a few couple of months is much better then them.
A solid reason to support this is if they want to be in this industry they will surely provide all the best of support and uptime and industry leading softwares and products to there client for the very low price as compared to other big ones.

Now the point to be noted is the people only don't believe new companies just because they are new... I don't understand the reason why people have a mentality of treating OLD IS GOLD....

When new companies just to establish them selves in this market are offering tons of services for a much lesser price to what other big ones do then why do people think they are going to fall down... They too have there business plans setup or else they won't advertise it different forums and waste there precious time in which they could have done many other jobs....

I know this is a never ending topic but you surely need to broaden your thinking and start thinking about this second phase of hosting industry...

With my article I surely can't mentality of too many people but surely can start a step ahead of others to let people think on this....

Hope I can scratch some great minds with my writting and they can comment some great ideas and pros and cons...

Thank You.

Well, first off, I would submit that instead of new vs old you might want to reframe the argument to small vs large.

In an ideal world, the new company might be apt to treat you better in theory, but that rarely works out, practically. Number one, "new hosts" are often working out the kinks in the system. These are things that the "old hosts" would have ironed out in years past but haven't even occurred to the new host. Frankly speaking, the customer is the guinea pig. Number two, new hosts don't necessarily have more personal or devoted support. More often than not, you're dealing with a minimal amount of staff, availability, and features. (Of course this will vary with the amount of capital initially invested, but let's face it in an industry that has infamously low entry-barrier costs, the average will lean towards the very small end.)

Of course you can make the arguments you made about the larger hosts being inefficient in their own right, but that's where economy of scale comes in; with that in mind, the larger host will win out.

I've always desired and argued that you want to deal with a host that is either a small business or that treats you in the way a small business would. With these sprawling hosts we see these days, there is definitely a numbers game. (And frankly most of these "great hosts" with oversold space and bandwidth for "special coupons" play this game better than anyone.) I submit that you want to be a client where you aren't #10,801 but are John, Sally, Bob or whatever your name happens to be. When you find this established company that has time for you, that is a winning pick.

Cut and paste much?

Seems to be his own post, so it's not like he was infringing copyright.

I agree. That is not rare to see the same post from the same person on the different forums

Oh no, soz... don't get me wrong. I wasn't suggesting copyright infringement. It's just that making the same post on two different forums for non-advertisement purposes was a bit suss to me.

honestly I would give a preference only established companies with a good reputation at the market, for me it is better rather to pay more, but get high quality service.

I assume that doesn't matter for the end users. They want to get good service and that is not important for them if web hosting company new or old

Some times clients having experience in hosting filed may check for proven track records. Any way I am not against new companies. Actually some fly by night hosts make this situation that never try a pretty new company. If you provide solid service and support you can with stand. Best of luck.

you might want to consider different criteria depending on criticality of your website. I am not saying you will start something absolutely worthless, but there might be websites which are lesser importance to you.

I would definitely like to go with Established companies, but depending on aforementioned and "price" I might also look for new startups that might give you better value

As I said earlier there is nothing wrong in trying a new company. But keep your back ups up to date; also with established company also you should do this. And depending on price only I mean just because of cheap prices you should not select a new company.
