New to the Domain World and was interested in just doing something w/ my time learning something new. Friend knew I wanted to start a Christian Clothing Line and needed a logo, website, and register a domain. I was looking around for some place to register my domain name for my company. My domain name is tripgwow.gdn so I do want to know where I can get a good hosting company, design for my logo, and web services? Any advice, hookups, or logo artist that can lead me in the right direction?

Now is it still gibberish LOL?! Don't be so quick to judge.
Sorry it still doesn't make sense...
Wouldn't that be GGGTWOW? What is "trip" doing there?

You know what - it doesn't really matter. If you like it - good for you. The question was about .gdn (and nGTLDs) - I think there's no point in spending money on defensive registrations in any new extension (especially gdn)

I would use "tripleg" or "3g". You have stiff competition from Gsus if we are talking about divine clothing.....

Ah, so it's triple - I thought it had something to do with travel - you know, "go on a trip"
It's pretty confusing domain (and very long name) for a store.

Yes indeed, I couldnt make anything of the name until he explained the meaning. That doesnt have to be a problem as long as it sounds nice.
Maybe: D'vine jeans ?

Trip G Wow is just a short version. I want people to have to ask what it means. That is whats going to draw your interest to me for explanation. My dba is 3GWow. Trip is just short for Triple.

Thats why Trip is just short for Triple. My dba is 3GWOW. I want to draw my customers curiosity. Therefore when they are brought my way and I explain to others, it creates conversation which will lead to discussion about God. Just a bait. Almost similar concept to WWJD.

Is it possible to trademark a domain name? And if someone was to try and still it would the owner of the domain name be notified?

If the domain was registered BEFORE TM - then TM doesn't matter.

I like the new gTLDs and I had never heard of .gdn and that's a problem because it is hard to remember, gdn itself (I looked it up) is an acronym that's meaningless to people.

If it is cheap to renew it may make a good development tld for testing.

The TLD should be easy to remember. That usually means a .com or a new gTLD related to the business, like .store mentioned earlier.

Be careful of the new gTLDs because some are inexpensive first year and then shoot up for each additional year. Bait and Switch. Example -

.black is just under $3.00 first year but then shoots up to almost $40 a year which is ridiculous IMHO.

.clothing is ~ $25 a year and easy to remember, though a lot to type.

The .com though is probably fine.

Basically all I'm saying is that it takes time for New TLD's to root and blossom. Everyone is on .com for the fact its been around for awhile, but from history I see previous comments that people speculate and look down on something new that might evolve to something else. .COM wasn't meant to be what it is now, it was just something new to start. History states at first, .cor was proposed as the domain for corporations, but when the final version came out it was switched to .com. .GDN is Global Domain Name so I thought if I'd want to reach people of every aspect why not get something that has that meaning., GLOBAL. Just my opinion.

I hear you, I like the new gTLDs I just am not sure .gdn will be easy to remember, it isn't single syllable like .com and most people won't have a clue about what the acronym means.

Absolutely right. I would think that is .GDN problem to maybe market/advertise their extension more.

I understand ur logic with regards to going for a .gdn because it's different.

The problem is when it comes to obtaining click thru's to your site and conversions it's important to come across as credible and trustworthy. I have been in Internet marketing for a number of years now and I can assure that a .com will get a better click thru rate than a .gdn

PM me your Skype name. I would be happy to give u some pointers and advice.

There is a risk that .gdn will be associated with God Does Nothing. If that happens it might severely damage your business. I would not take a risk and avoid .gdn...;)
