A comment from Joseph Peterson:
"Looks like I jumped the gun.

The prior owner of Autism.rocks appears to be another non-profit organization centered on autism, WeRockForAutism.org:

“We Rock for Autism is 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to raising awareness and acceptance for autism by promoting music, art, events, families and businesses that “rock” by supporting the cause. Our goal is to help children with autism receive music and art therapy, musical instruments or players, as well as communication devices. Our foundation is supported by your donations.”

So it seems that 1 well funded organization bought the domain from a sister organization. In that case, the $100,000 purchase price might be (in effect) a donation; and it would be spent on autism anyway."

This nonsense is entertaining. Who are you trying to convince?

If something is profitable, and has low acceptance, you keep your mouth shit and acquire as much as you can.

However with gTLDs we see the opposite happening.

They now have low acceptance, low retention, and low sales rates. Yet we see people constantly trying to tell people how valuable they are.

Makes sense. <3

stockphotos.com 250k USD
stock.photo / stock.photos, 60000 USD (2 domains)

1.You lost the moment you started comparing transactions that weren't word.word vs wordword.com, you can't compare all e+word or i+word transactions if there are no comparable ngtlds to match the .com...doing so goes beyond logic and is a clear attempt to deceive others. You also became redundant and hypocritical in your arguments claiming single transactions were in no way representative of a large enough sample size to make a clear conclusion that word.word was more valuable than word+word in aggregate, when in reality you were the one posting singular sales as examples, and you continue to do so.

2.Inconclusive and bias misrepresentations of data will never be considered viable here, in real life, in the court room and in the classroom. Making arguments using your strategy in a boardroom would leave most people out of a job. Either you be straight with people and provide clear and unbiased facts or don't even bother.

3. It is very clear that you have some deep rooted disdain for ngtlds, considering the amount of effort you have taken to try and discredit, ruin and offtrack the focus of numerous ngtld threads. I don't know where it comes from but I'd just like to be quite clear with you and say that at the most basic level what your doing is despicable. I mean lets put this into perspective:

Lets say a new technology comes out that cuts fuels on specific brands of cars 50%. A report comes out comparing the prices of new cars coming out with this technology from specific brands comparing the prices of old versions vs new versions showing that they new technology drives up the initial cost of the car but reduces the cost of fuel in the long run.

Lets assume the new technology is called WORD.WORD and the old car brands used a technology called Word+Word.COM. So far only specific brands of cars using the old technology have switched to the new one.

Now lets say @168 a researcher that has posted an article comparing the prices of SPECIFIC brands using the new technology WORD.WORD to the old technology WORD+WORD.COM.

Here is what you have done:
Posted prices of WORD.WORD in comparison to WORD+WORD.com's where .WORD doesn't yet exist i.e either technology hasn't been adopted or no comparative sale has been made. Stating that this is valid evidence contrary to the premise, data and conditions of comparison provided by the OP.

Now lets think about this...basically you posted a bunch of useless information and said "look everyone! this is real this is the truth!" When in fact it was nothing but irrelevant garbage.

Stop wasting your time. Go find yourself something more constructive to do...maybe look for some more .COMs to add to your portfolio. This way you could actually make a positive impact on something...posting here is just bad karma.

propaganda/fake news

I don't see anything fake about publicly reported transactions. Do you? I'd be suprised if you'd take kindly to someone pointing at a value on your balance sheet saying its "propaganda/fake news". Fake news would be adding 3 zeros to every single transaction posted on 168's list and Propaganda would be him claiming that those final sale prices were real. Neither of those things have happened so the only thing that is " Propaganda/Fake news" is you saying that it is "Propaganda/Fake news".

I am not trying to distort the truth. I don't need to. It is self evident what is true.

It defies logic why a nGTLD name would on average be not only be worth the same but also more than that or than previous sales. Think about it.

It's not that the domain market has gone up.

That is obviously nonsense that should be apparent to anyone.

More useful information.

http://paulgraham.com/name.html

If you have a US startup called X and you don't have x.com, you should probably change your name.

The reason is not just that people can't find you. For companies with mobile apps, especially, having the right domain name is not as critical as it used to be for getting users. The problem with not having the .com of your name is that it signals weakness. Unless you're so big that your reputation precedes you, a marginal domain suggests you're a marginal company. Whereas (as Stripe shows) having x.com signals strength even if it has no relation to what you do.

if you think that in a world where most startups want a .com, nGTLDs will sell for more on average then you are dreaming.
