domain New business domain duo.

Hey,

I just picked up two new domains that I think could make a good business. Right now, I am using them as an affiliate site to (hopefully) bring in some money without any real work on my part, but once I get some time plan on developing them a little.

Was wondering what people thought.

Both point to the same site, which I have branded Linux Wear (as I think it sounds cooler). In case anyone doesn't already know, Linux is an (awesome imho) operation system that has lately been gaining a lot of ground on MS and Apple options. It also has quite a geeky following that like to openly brag about their choice. There are hundreds of sites out there that sell clothing and gear that have Linux logos/witty sayings/etc. on them. I figure that the domains here would be a good choice for a business around such. Could easily get some type in traffic.

I picked both up on the drops over the past couple of days. I haven't done any advertising/etc., and they are getting a few visitors a day. Mostly the linuxwear.com one.

Appraisals? Comments? Suggestions? Thanks!

Part of the difficulty in making honest appraisals is that I can't really gage the development interest of people in general. Basically, I can sense that linux and wear, together, sound good, and like you said, geeks have clothing tastes all their own and may like something like this.

Having said that, the value comes from not just the domain name itself, but in entrepreneurs seeing the possibility that you see, and putting their capital to follow through on this. So, to that end, a domain is not really valuable in itself. It is as valuable as the potential that people see in developing the name.

At worst, you could probablly photoshop a few desings with Linux wear and get an account at Cafe Press and test the waters that way. Or, you could call various clothing speculators in the LA or NY fashion districts with your idea.

But the name, linuxwear.com, is currently not worth much more than reg, until something is actually created, or a clothing jobber sees its potential. Then, you may see 100 or so bucks, maybe.
