If some of you visited cg talk since the start of august you would have surely seen the adfor max 9. when I haven't managed to upgrade to max 8 yet
The question is : 'How often do you upgrade to a new version of any software of any kind (be that Max and Maya or illustrator and flash) and how usefull it is to upgrade with every release (from your point of view) (unless you are a high-end graphics studio that has to keep up with the industry's standarts). that's my little question to little studios and freelancers at Namepros.

Your ideas guys.....

I had max 4 for a long time had a few jobs with it but not as much as I would of liked. I was thinking about upgrading to 6 but within the time it took me to think about it 7 came out. I eventually upgraded to 7 and definatly use a lot of the new features so a well worth update.

I'm very happy with 7 for the moment as I can do everything I need to do. I havn't actually taken time out to see what new changes have been made but for me I'm sure most are not needed for the moment. Also most of may work now has been swaying towards web development and less 3d.

Anyway if you feel you will be using it a lot and any of the new features appeal to you then go for it. Otherwise sit back and enjoy 7. It still is a very powefull version.

Software's too darn expensive for a regular joe to be upgrading with each new version. I check the new features coming out and only upgrade when I think the price is worth the new features.
