Network Solutions Certified Offer Service

Does anyone have any experience, either good or bad, of using the NS Certified Offer Service as a means of selling a domain name?

I have an agreement with an end user to sell a domain name (buyer in US with an account at NS and myself in the UK, never used NS before) and the buyer wants to use NS as a third party to handle the transaction.

I am concerned how long NS would take to handle the transaction and particularly to pay me. I would prefer to use Escrow.com.

Before I go back to the buyer I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has used the service to get an impression of how good (or otherwise) an experience they had, what fees were charged and how long it took for payment to be received.

Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Wish I could be of assistance ... I placed an offer once though this service - I think it cost me $19 - $29 at the time - for a low $X,xxx domain name that I had had my eye on for some time (and knew it to be registered through Network Solutions, and years later still not developed or even resolving). I never heard anything and simply ate the fee ... eventually it was renewed for another two years and then dropped ( -- >> and I own it now for a cool $8.95/year)! :D :kickass:

I transacted at least three times with NS's old "Escrow Only" service - flat fee of $500 / per occassion - and each of those transactions were flawless, back in the days of course. :guilty:
All the best,

David,

I have used the service twice. Once without a hitch, the 2nd (and current) is problematic. This time I had used it simply as a way to pay the buyer. Its nice if its an NSI customer, because they handle the transfer for you - and its very comfortable for the seller.

However, all that service does is send an email to the admin email address. The problem is when that isnt updated properly, they dont send it to the account holder or even attempt to call them up. Its downright silly.

I hope to have the second one resolved soon enough. Fortunately the seller has already agreed to the price, we just need network solutions to help finish it.
