Since the origin thread appears to be closed. I thought I's re-open it without the links.

Yup they took the full $34.99 from me even after the last thing their website said before passing me to PayPal was I was buying a $0.50 domain. The scam is that when you get to PayPal they don't show you the amount you are paying, and when you get back to NetSol they thank you for the $34.99 you just paid. They scammed me out of $34.49. This sucks big-time, IMHO.

I think $0.50 is only for new customers.

It actually is an issue with PayPal.

It's common for both GD and NetSol that when you get to the last stage of the checkout, using paypal will disregard whatever promo code you're using. Not every promo code, but some. There really is no other option other than finding one that will work for pp check out.

Try reaching out to NetSol and see if they'll offer you a courtesy.

The reason they disregard certain promo codes with pp checkout is because the fee structure for a paypal account is higher than merchant fees with a credit card.

When you take into account how many customers they serve, it's smarter to disassociate paypal as an option when handing out 99 cent and 50 cent domains.

I have always used CC on Godaddy. because from Indian Paypal point of view Using Paypal would also mean that the money is going to get deducted from CC.

As for your experience with Netsol :'( whatever the issue is in the backend but from customer point of view if you are telling the customer that he will be charged $0.50 and make him press the "Pay now" button or "Checkout" button then someone somewhere on some step has to clarify that the 0.50 that you were about to pay has suddenly became $34.99 so that if you want to change your mind then as a customer you can :)

Exactly, Keral. It's worse than that. It's a scam. Is what it is.

I used to do that Netsol trick in past. If some very old members do remember.

If you don't want someone else to buy your "543dndikjefsdnfksdnfskfs.com" then all you had to do was go to netsol and enter "543dndikjefsdnfksdnfskfs.com" in the search box. :D LOL :D

I miss those old days.

I still don't know what that was all about as I was very new but today I don't even remember what that was all about because Age and Alcohol does kills brain cells :D

Not defending netsol, but it would be a scam if they didn't refund your money less the 50 cents. Did you ask a refund telling them you clicked their publicly advertised 50 cent promo?

Right. At least with GoDaddy, AFAIK the only payment method for those $1.99 etc. deals is a CREDIT CARD. PayPal is not an option. So that could very well be the issue with NetSol.

:bah:

They shouldn't be offering a PayPal option of payment if it's not supported. That's incompetence.
