.net Price Increase on February 1, 2018
Starting on February 1st, 2018, the .NET Registry is increasing the price for all Registrars on .NET domains. As result, GoDaddy will be increasing the pricing by $1.00 USD for all new registrations, renewals, and transfers for the .NET TLD.

Never bought a dot net as usually buy dot com first or cctld but I can see it needing to increase price continually in the coming years as its not as popular as it once was

A hyphenated .com maybe easier to remember and trust then a non-hyphenated .net

The price increase for .net is actually 82 cents but it's convenient for GoDaddy to round it up.
