Does the word 'Gamester' have a a negative, positive or neutral meaning?

It's not a common word in British English but I'm not sure about American English.

Any opinions would be welcome.

Quite honestly It's not a word you hear much if at all least I haven't recently. Now as far as Meaning I think this would could go either way...but for the most part my first thought was neutral.

Gamester? A gamester is a synonym for gambler.

We don't really hear or use that word a lot in US english.

The term 'hardcore gamer' would be a badge of honour amongst the WiiStation 360 brigade, and a term of derision by someone else.
