Need your ideas

Hi,

I am looking for some ideas for promotions for CityPics I maybe havent though of yet. As it is a non-profit site preferable free of course.

So far I used

• (un)targetted visitors campaigns
• link exchanges
• signature links
• a press release
• communities like digg, stumbleupon, delicious

Something I encountered some times are promotions via blogs. Does this really work? Why should someone promote a foreign site over his blog? How would someone approach this best?

The budget is rather small. Also there is already Adsense implemented but its difficult to earn from it without a proper click-through rate.

May be some PPC advertising will do (preferably Adwords). You will get visitors from all over the world.

I think a site like yours would do great with a little MySpace Marketing. You can use a friend adder program and filter by locations

Here's a from recent reply I made

Create a profile, search google using site:myspace.com keyword, then send friend request. Or get one of the friend adder programs then do the above using the program. It also helps if you have some component that will have a viral effect(spread rapidly by word of mouth,etc...) like the random recipe tool at http://www.equickrecipes.com/random.php

I'm no pro, I'm still learning myself but I think with your content you could get that viral effect mentioned above. Others on namepros have far more experience than I do, maybe they can add a little more
