I have a site, www.LessonListings.com, that uses a database to store all the member information.

Ive just added a VBulletin forum, and Id like it to be that when someone signs up for an account with the main site LessonListings.com, they automatically get an account generated with the same username: password as their main account.

I talked to the guys who programmed the site, and they told me that it isnt doable because the site is in ASP and Vbulletin uses PHP.

Im not 100% confident in their answer. It seems strange that its not possible to make two languages interact.

Can anyone here do this programming? If so please give me a quote and a timeframe.

Cheers

I'm no pro on coding, but why not try it the other way around...

When a client needs to register they are taken to the vBulletin registration page. Some simple coding could mean once they are registered they reload back to the original page..

Then use the details from the vb_user table in your asp login.

Registering in asp -> php would be a problem in vBulletin. Which member group would they be in? what would there member id be, their email.. ect. They would have to enter every field.

So i think you should try the other way round.

Does that make any sense lol?

Good Luck.

The registration itself shouldnt be a problem. It wouldnt matter if you do it from your main site or from your forum.

The bigger problem is, if you also want a shared authentication (someone logged into your forum is also logged into your site).

Its a bit difficult to say more without knowing more about your site's setup and your requirements.
