I am planning on developing ARG.com, and I would like your feedback.

Here are my ideas so far.

A site about pirates
A site about Argentina
A site where people can vent their frustrations
A site about alternate reality gaming

Anyone have any good suggestions?

arg for arcade game, maybe?

But argentina is more valuable though.

My roommate was just involve with alteranate reality gaming. From what he said it could end up becoming a pretty big thing. Either way developing will only increase the value of the name. If someone wants to buy the name they know that you will be giving up an already established site and have to move it to a new domain meaning they have to pay more $$$ to get you to move.

flip it now, or later...but flip it.

don't use it to develop a site.
a site for pirates, lol...come on.

use the proceeds to develop some site topic that you personally fancy.

I would approach American Research Group and Alcohol Research Group and try to sell it to them. I agree that there isn't much point to develop an LLL.com just for the sake of developing it, especially considering an end-user will have their own use in mind. American Research Group won't pay more because the site is getting a lot of traffic from pirate enthusiasts...

You are right that developing the site may not help me if I try to sell it to American Research Group, but this domain has the potential to be the #1 site for Alternate Reality Games, and if this game genre takes off in the next couple years, selling the domain may end up being a dumb idea. :)
