I am new to domain forums. I'm also new at selling domains. I've been needing help with quite a few things. Now I need help with some of this terminollogy that gets tossed around here. Like what does "bump" mean? What is a "CVCV.com"? What does "IMHO" mean? There's a lot of other ones, but I can't think of them right now. I'll probably end up asking about them later. I appreciate any help I can get on this, & if there are any other terms you can think of, you can clear those up for me too. I'm looking forward to your responses. Thank you.

Welcome to NamePros :)

1. CVCV is a pattern where c= consonant and v=vowel (ex. gaba.com)
2. Bump is a meaningless post which moves the thread back to the top of the list (you are allowed one free bump per 24 hrs per namepros rules)
3. IMHO= In My Honest Opinion.

If you have any other troubles feel free to ask.

what does "bump" mean? = Just a simple post to push your thread back up to the top of the list.

What is a "CVCV.com"? = "ConsonantVowelConsonantVowel.com"
What does "IMHO" mean? = "In My Humble Opinion"

There's a lot of other ones, but I can't think of them right now. I'll probably end up asking about them later. I appreciate any help I can get on this, & if there are any other terms you can think of, you can clear those up for me too. I'm looking forward to your responses. Thank you.

Welcome @ NP(<--means Namepros):)

A "Bump" or bumping is when the OP(original Poster of the Thread)is replying to his own posting to bring it on top of the threads.

This can be abused easily and therefore are rules in place against it.

IMHO stands for "in my humble opinion"

cvcv....hmmmmm, it stands for C onsonants and V owels ,take a loook here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consonant#Consonants_versus_vowels

and one seems to be more valuable then the other, but maybe someone else can chime in here since i am just a social butterfly(according to Defaultuser) lol

I give you another one you will come across very often here:

"Regged", its the short form of "registered the domain"

cheers

l<-- stands for "liquid", my username:wave::hehe::imho::gl:

if you sell a domain this term describes the transfer from the domain into the buyers account at the SAME registrar.

if the buyer wants to have the domain in his moniker account then you would initiate a "transfer"(only do a transfer after receiving the money!) :)

A push is a transfer from one account to another at the same registrar (ie. GoDaddy account #1 to GoDaddy account #2)

A transfer is when the domain is moved from one registar to another (ie. GoDaddy Account to a Dynadot Account).

----Edit----
Liquid beat me to it :)

Also, what are backlinks? Yeah. I told y'all I was new to this lol

Backlinks = links on other websites that lead to your domain/website

Having links from other websites or pages that are in or about the same niche/topic as your domain/website/page are considered good SEO (= Search Engine Optimization) for your site. Usually, the greater the number of backlinks from RELEVANT sites to yours, the better it is when it comes to search engines!

BUT remember, it's still only ONE of the MANY factors that search engines use in their ranking algorithms.

You can Google almost anything in this planet, with instant answers.

For example, you can type "what does bump mean in forums" in Google. And you'll get instant answers. That's how i get my knowledge about you humans. I presume you are human, right?

...and sorry I haven't updated the dictionary for awhile; hellishly busy this spring and summer, but I expect to add to the dic in Sept again. Welcome to PM me any terms you want added (specific domain terms you see, not general terms like IMHO, etc), I'll keep the PM and get to it in the fall :)

alien alien alien....do you have to "alienate"?:D

the great thing about forums is that you can ask questions/interact,isn't it....well some prefer a dry g. search but others prefer asking...:cy:;)
