A good friend of mine has a domain name with a professional website/business behind it. It is registered through domainsdirect. I looked at the whois and became confused because his actual name and address etc are not apart of the whois.

Domain name = private
Registrar: TUCOWS INC.
Whois Server: whois.tucows.com
Referral URL: http://domainhelp.opensrs.net
Name Server: NS1.DOMAINDIRECT.COM
Name Server: NS2.DOMAINDIRECT.COM
Name Server: NS3.DOMAINDIRECT.COM
Status: clientTransferProhibited
Status: clientUpdateProhibited
Updated Date: 08-sep-2006
Creation Date: 01-dec-2003
Expiration Date: 01-dec-2007

I want to help him transfer the name to my reseller site so I can provide him a better renewal fee and hosting rate. But by the looks of it, he doesnt have the domain in his name so is he the actual owner?

Any help appreciated, thanks!

did you check the whois details in http://resellers.tucows.com/whois ?

The owner details may show there - I know 123-reg.com uses tucows and somtimes I need to check using the above.

Give it a shot if you have'nt already :|

You're looking at an incomplete whois. Either click on the whois for at the registrar of record or the whois at the registry of the TLD.

Thats what I thought - the link I posted above usually shows the full info including name and email address of the owner.

Did you try it ?

If you want to PM the domain to me I will see if I can find out who actually owns it.
