Need help with old domain history...

Recently checking around for available (unregistered) domain names, I came across one that I thought would be good for a "pet walking" or "pet" website.

The domain is petstretch.com

So, I did a little research on the domain, and found it has been around for awhile. There are 4 references in whois dating back to 2001 at least, but I can't access that information.

The domain appears to have been owned by Iktomi at one point, one of the original search engines (known as a web crawler at the time), which was purchased by Yahoo.

Archive.org doesn't show much as there doesn't appear to have ever been a website for the domain name.

What is most interesting to me, is that when I Google "pet stretch", there are around 400,000 references and they pretty well are all related to manufacturing those little plastic bottles that we see everywhere. Soda bottles, water bottles, soap bottles, etc. PET plastic is the clear, thin plastic we see all the time. It is recyclable. It is a huge business.

So, as a generic business domain, it may be more valuable than I reallized when I regged it.

A check of whois IP addresses reveals it has bounced around a little over the years.

I don't have the tools or knowledge to find the origin of the domain.

Anyone have the ability to find out when the domain was originally registered? Are there any sites will those tools?

....so its "probably" 2001 as you say....I'm not sure if this is just info from their own database or from a registrar ??

That is as far as I got as well.

I checked the ISP numbers there and that is where I found it had been owned by Iktomi at some point.

I was hoping there was a tool available to check original registration dates.

There isn't anything on archive.org so apparently there has never been a website.

Must be sometime around or prior to 2001, I guess.

With whois.sc, they capture data as people check whois. So back on 5-23-2001...

and most likely Expired in 2003 as well. Was it picked up from 2003 until 2008? Not fully sure, since nobody checked whois in that time frame.
