This in only my second post here though I have been watching for a couple of weeks. I just received an offer on a domain name which is parked at sedo. They offered $75.00. This is the first time someone has offered me money on one of my domains. Is there any feedback on this value. What is the best way to counter offer? Do most people counter high? any help would be useful.

welcome to namepros, and my first advice is to remove the name from ur post or modify it ( eg: domainname(dot)com) as not to trigger the search bots

i would counter 10x their offer in this particular case, its a nice name that easily tells what is going to be there.

Unfortunately without knowing the name its difficult to advise you how to proceed. You must consider that 90% of buyers will not give you their highest offer. At $75, I consider that reselling pricing. I would recommend a stiff counter as well. Depending on the domain - $600 - $2k.

Dont be afraid to lose the sale, Your going to lose one from time to time. Its better to lose a sale than to sell a domain for far less than its potential sales value.

I agree with domainspade. If someone offers $75 for it now, even if they don't accept your counter-offer, there's a good chance you'll get a much better price for it in the future. Also, beware sedo's fee structure...

You now have the perfect timing to get it to the Sedo auction. After any bid is placed on your name in Sedo, you can place the name in auction. Doing that will help get you a decent price, as more bidders will push the name up. You can place a higher offer or place the name in auction. You only have a limited time to make your choice.

Good luck!

Thankyou for the response... I recognize all your names from other posts that have been made in this forum. Quality info has always been given. The domain is FINDSKIRESORTSDOTCOM and the singular is actively being used as far as I can tell in Europe. Bottom line I don't think its worth selling quite yet unless the price is high enough. I think I will counter with a high multiple

Is this so that if a potential buyer does a search on the name they want, the thread about the name will come up if it was discussed in a forum such as this (which I could understand why that would be undesirable).

I would suggest a counter offer as well. There is no point in selling a name on Sedo for under $xxx considering the fees involved. I don't know if I would go the auction route unless you can specify a reserve. Someone will know better on that one.

Correct - especially if a price is mentioned that is lower than desired.
