.tv Need Development Ideas: Invite.tv

Recently, my domain: Invite.tv has been getting inquiries, some lowball offers and slightly increased traffic. After being motivated by that other thread about Rick Schwartz'es blog discussing the increased value of developed domains--I am seriously considering developing Invite.tv (will be my first developed .tv). Also, I will have NO competition from the .com because Invite dot com is an undeveloped parking page.

I need sme feedback from you folks about the direction to take this, but some parameters are:
1) I would like the site to provide some type of service (preferably), which will initially be free but for which I may be able to later charge a monthly fee
2) Content should be developed/uploaded by users (One of my development 'issues' in the past is that I develop sites that require me to keep adding fresh content--this is time consuming and becomes nearly impossible now that I have 5 developed websites-plus I work 45-50 hours per week at a real job)
3) Will be something people need/want/use
4) Should be video based/thus fitting with the .tv extension
5) I may be willing to invest some money for initial development, but needs to be something I can take over/admin/maintain by MYSELF after initial site is developed.

Any ideas? I will provide 5 NP$ to all of the 'top' ideas presented here!!!

set it up for users to send out video invitations- they can upload their own, and you should have generic ones made-

i get "evites" all the time- taking it to the video level would just be awesome-

i had a whole game plan in mind for this- but this would have been the name i would have wanted to use for this-

this is far off, but perhaps it could be a site for 'home exchanges' i know some people who have done this

if you are travelling for business in Paris for instance for about a year, you can trade your condo in New York to a family/student/whomever who would like to do the same. the user could upload videos 'inviting' others to stay in their home..

just thougt of this a week ago, as was going to do this on .com with niche group

run some sort of youtube script, where people can vlog their upcoming events.

e.g. Weddings, Parties, meetings, or go niche as well, but invite is so universal.

I think the best target group would be teens, facebook and myspace have become huge party listing sites for 13-25 year crowd, just palster the site with teen products and cell phones.

Very Simple Idea, A video information guide for events, then a person having th event could refer them to Invite.tv a very memorable name.

As I said, teens having parties is the first thing that comes to my mind
if you were to use the site as a vlog for personal upcoming events.

I like the combination of ideas from SmashFactory and tvman the best. Disintegration-your idea is very original but it just doesnt really 'fit' what I had in mind for the domain. If smash or tvman could elaborate a little more, I will declare them both the winners of the $5 NP bucks.

Specifically, smash-->How would I ultimately monetize the site? Also, you said you had an idea planned out--if interested I could possibly pay you a consulting fee to share it (unless you are planning something similar of your own)

tvman->Spacifically, can't what you suggest already be done on those socialnetworking sites you mentioned? I do NOT want to compete with Youtube, Facebook etc or any other large site. I want my site to be something that is niche, cool and can generate a revenue stream (eventually)

Also, any suggestions on PHP developers would help as I assume the video upload feature is something that would have to be developed in PHP--and I am pretty much a novice at PHP development.

I am sorry I'm so dense, but one concept keeps escaping me--> What can this site provide to the users that they CAN'T do with their own email and video camera.

Where is the value added? How do I ultimately monetize the site?

i will pm you after i get the kids to bed- there is lots you can do besides the camera and email, and you can monotize it- sniff sniff- i thought about this for awhile then saw invite.tv was taken. sorry, still hurts ;-(
but- i think you will like what i "had" planned out- will be on in a bit

lol i know just throwing something different in the mix..

to add on the evite idea, perhaps you could add premade frame templates or animations that go along with it to seperate it from the crowd...
anyways good luck with it, such a strong name!

the person could pick the template for their video (the skin e.g. bells around the player for a wedding, the year and party favors for new years party), upload a pre-recorded invite or on the spot webcam invite, they would have a custom page to list all the details, directions (map addon or mashup), times (maybe a count down widget),suggested gifts (you could ad google adsense target words to there gift ideas area!) once they have made their page and created/uploaded their invite video, they finish off with a custom email to invite the guests to view and bookmark the video for future reference or referal

As for youtube, that is a giant site of confusion, so I think you have the NICHE market covered as Invite.com is another ever so famous parking page....

Does anybody here know if taking and attaching a video to an email is easy/difficult? Are video files particularly large?
