Although I really doubt that NP will be going anywhere, its not wise to spend a lot of money in NP$ as it usually shows the host isn't "serious" about their business...Its ok for shared, and maybe small reseller plans...but buying a VPS/Dedicated with NP$ really isn't worth it.
Here is what you will receive in a summery:
Slow VPS as the owner is likely to be overloading the servers because they are making peanuts.
Poor support as its likely to be a one man show
A VPS that will disappear within a few months when the owner gets board with running his "company".
If you are serious about this, you should be looking for a managed dedicated server or high-end managed VPS.
Here is a few places you should state:
webhostingtalk.com
powervps.com (Fully managed VPS provider)
vpslink.com (budget VPS servers -- very good, but no support provided)
dehe.com (another fully managed VPS provider)
layeredtech.com (the most respected managed VPS and dedicated host -- well worth the price tag!)
There are many more...looking round WHT is a good idea as you can get people to give you reviews and opinions about different hosting providers.
I hope you don't think I'm having a go here...I just don't want to see you fall flat on your face when in a months time your site disappears of the internet because of a poor hosting provider.
Paying 500NP$ a month for a vps (or $10) is stupid...you look at the real hosts on the net...I only know of 2 that provide VPS servers for under $10, both are unmanaged, and both cant even run a PHP script as they have such low memory allocations...you will need at least 512mb memory with the option to boost that to around 1.5GB
Also you need a hell of a lot of bandwidth, I'm talking 500GB - 2TB a month.
Several of the biggest proxy's regularly use over 5TB a month.
