I need a logo for a whale watching site - alaskawhaletours/com.

The logo will go on the top right side of the whale where "whale tours.com" is (or maybe on the left side of the whale...thee current lettering is temporary, so if you have any ideas...). The current background photo might be changed from time to time, maybe to one that is a bit lighter or bluer, so keep that in mind.

If possible it would be nice to have a scaleable (vector?) logo, so I can resize it easily and use in several places.

Logo should be catchy and classy....inclusion of a whale, whale fluke (tail) or boat or such is probably a good idea...something that someone can look at and know exactly what it means.

Ideally, I'd like to see a few designs before choosing one, but am open to suggestions on this. I'd like to keep the cost under $30, if possible, but could go a bit higher if necessary.

PM me, post in the thread, or PM me for an e-mail address.

I need this within two or three days. Let me know if you need more info, or if I forgot anything in this post.

Thanks

Edit: Answers to some questions:

I'd prefer the logo to be solid colors (as opposed to transparent), as it may be used in different places.

For size, I'd prefer a vector file, so I can easily make it different sizes. If that's not possible, it would goon the right of the whale (the current site title would go away), so it needs to be big enough for people to easily see and read.

For design, something to do with whales and Alaska....with Alaska Whale Tours or AlaskaWhaleTours.com somehow integrated. It can be any shape as long as it looks good. If you use a whale, please be sure it's the shape of a humpback or gray whale...not the square-headed look. (the majority of the photos on the site are humpback...others are in "varieties" sectiion.)

LatE,
not bad, but the whalle looks too bland. Any way to give it more detail or realism?

LatE, Yes, the detail helps. It would even help on the sample below.

Here's another logo I found that is nice: http://verbster.googlepages.com/whalelogos

It's difficult to choose between something like done by LatE, jurrie and mainstream...and something like the logo in the url above (or very similar), but if I had to choose, I think something more like the one just posted would work best.

While I stll think something with the state of Alaska in it would work, for some reason they don't seem right, which is probably because I can't offer good enough creative comments..or maybe enough money.

That said, if someone could offer something like the latest sample I found, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, but it's not the style I'm looking for.

P.S. The flag has eight stars...

Skilgannon--It's very promising...and has a professional feel to it. My thoughts are like a couple previos comments:

A good gray whale instead of an Orca would be nice (like one of the samples I posted or that has been submitted.
Having "Alaska" on the right kind of puts the title out of order.

Now the hard part...can your illustration be layered with the state of Alaska moved sort of to the center of the circle...and the whale and title on top of that, with the overlap/layers changing colors or being somewhat transparent for what looks best?

things can still jut outside of the circle a bit, like a longer gray whale might...and the Aleutiion Island part of the state...but the word "Alaska" will be furthest left or highest up.

Thanks again--
