That's probably a formatting thing with Corporate Domains. As long as the registrant can be reached at that phone number, then that shouldn't necessarily be a problem.

Now I remember that domain name with a long-time invalid WHOIS. Get this:

I just did the whois on NBC.com and there is nothing wrong with the phone number on there.. You most likely got 1.2 because the Skype plugin in your browser is malfunctioning.

In future try turning of your skype plugin before you do Whois lookups..

Well then, I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that JUST MAYBE there is an issue with the whois service YOU are using...

Especially since "1.2" are the SAME first 3 characters shown in the FULL (probably correct) phone number listed provided by DaveZan from another Whois service (here's another one you might check out - http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/NBC.COM )

They don't need to sell. Just gotta report the bogus/incomplete info and wait for them to pull the DN and re-release it to the general public. It will then be available for reg fee!!! :sold:

You can not rely on nor trust whois results of other whois servers other than the whois server that's associated with the domain - to reiterate, to determine the correct whois server to use for .com domains, query the .com registry first.

whois.corporatedomains.com is the associated registrar whois for the domain nbc.com - its whois info, including phone number, appears to be complete; nothing missing.

I'd have to agree here after seeing how WHO.IS is showing it. Every other WHOIS service I know except that so far is displaying the full phone number.

As Domagon said, the only authoritative source is the registrar's server. They're the ones other WHOIS services are essentially basing it from, after all.

Come on, folks. There's more pressing concerns than this.

It looks like Who.is was just caching an old result that has since been corrected. I hit the refresh link, and the phone number is now showing up properly there as well.
