that sounds about right. and if no one else bids on the name, then you pay them $15 for it.

Namewinner had been good to me.

With namewinner, the name goes to the person with the highest bid prior to the name dropping.

So anyone could get the domain name?

Not anyone, the person who is the high bidder at closing time.

So there is no post-drop bidding unlike in Pool? How successful has namewinner been lately for the more sought-after domains?

Tippy - I think he meant anyone that bids :p in that case it would be anyone, right?

Why dont you just try it out on a name you like that is dropping. Its only $15 for min bid and $8.xx if you have an old account.

I put in 16 names in namewinner yesterday. They got me one - westlife.info - but it still shows up in by billing history as unpaid. I sent my CC info before the drop, and again after the drop, but still have not received any confirmation. This card is mine, and I know its good.

Also, of the 16 domains I submitted, four were still available after the drop. So I regged them manually myself. These were not high-bid names, just $15 ones. How could this have happened?

I have not received any email from namewinner about the status of my orders, which in itself is worrying. :(

Can anyone familiar with namewinner enlighten us first-timers? Thanks!

IMO namewinner knows when a domain is going to have a bidding war between members . i really believe they could care less about the one guy thats just trying to get a domain name, thats not popular or isnt worth over $20. from what i have been hearing it seems like they dont want to bother with you unless you want to bid $XXX + for a domain. which stinks for the average guy who wants only to make sure he gets the name he wants . thats just my Opinion of namewinnder

Their billing system is messed up. I get the same problem all the time. And what dotster does they do not handle all the snaps themselves. They use alot of different registrars now.

Armstrong--

I tried NameWinners for the first time yesterday and am having the same experience you are. I won an auction but got no notification. I did notice, however, that at the Manage-->Billing History tab I have a notice for 1 unbilled item. I figured I'd give it a day before I started to worry about where and how the name was registered.

Please keep us posted!

I have won a few names through them, they can be very slow at sending you details of any domain you have won.

I have also noticed that, even though on their site it says you won , it does not necessarily mean that they got the domain. All it means is that you have the highest bid, so if they do manage to grab the domain you will get it. If another snap service grabbed the domain first you will not receive any notice that the domain was not registered for you.

Check the Whois record to see if it has been registered by someone else.

It is a matter of just waiting.

All the best.

Richard

I now have 2 domains in billing history - westlife.info and microchips.info. Whois for these 2 show them as registered to someone at Dotster named Steve Vincent, who is also the contact person for namewinner.info and dotster.info. So I believe that they did get my domains. They just need to get their act together and send them to me.

Given that they are slow in notifying winners, is it possible for me to lose my domains at this point if they don't charge my card in time? How slow are they, in fact? Would it take up to a week for this process to complete?

From what you say it does look like they got them which means, as the high bidder, they should be transferred to you.

On one of the domains I received an invoice notification which said that I would receive instructions within 24 hours, however it was 3 days before I got the information to manage the domain.

Be patient and good luck, let us know how long it does take.

All the best.

Richard

Namewinner finally delivered the domains into my dotster account. It was uncomfortable not knowing status of my orders, but I guess all's well that ends well.

Still, I'm unclear why I was able to register four domains in my namewinner list manually (through enom). It leaves the impression that perhaps I could have saved some money by doing all of them myself.
