Looking at namepros and especially The virtual reality threads makes me wonder if its being updated with new posts only to keep the thread alive becouse of the money some have invested in vr names some in the 100s maybe 1000s
i have a few but is they realty that much news to justly all the posts.
maybe its just me who thinks this !
one thing is for sure you best not say anything against vr in the threads or you will be put up against the wall and shot!

I wouldn't consider them "spam posts". Rather, a discussion on recent acquisitions or news in the VR/AR/Holo/etc. field. This is much the same as showcasing brandables, generics, LLLL's, etc. (plenty of showcase threads). Granted, there are a few posts every now and then that state a domain and a price or mention that it's for sale; these posts are "spam" as it's against the rules to post domains for sale outside of the marketplace.

And, I have no investments in VR domains.

can't shoot me..set up my time/reality/space continuum machine to teleport me to another location if those
VR bullies come within 500 feet of me..easy to spot them cause of their Star Trek Badges..

More laid back people at the "pot thread"

Guess some people are just over protective about their "children" (domains)

Well, everyone has their niche. You wouldn't go into a "Seahawks sports bar" wearing a Patriots jersey... so why would you go into a VR thread and post negativity? ;)

Its an opinion..the same as theirs. I own VR names too but was advising a couple of people to stop regging every word and adding VR on the front. Have a look and you will see my posts..someone got very offended that I didn't give a positive appraisal on their names. 99% of VR domainers are cool.

I give my opinions on any thread I'm interested in..whether its positive or negative..if people dont like it..dont read it. โ˜บ

I wouldnโ€™t call it spam. Virtual Reality is just such a potentially huge industry; many people want to get involved in it.

Trouble no good names can be registered anymore, so people just starting out register what they can and most whatโ€™s registered doesnโ€™t look good to people who have been posting in the thread 1 year+.

Haven't been in the thread myself in ages (except to moderate at times) and don't own any vr names, but if people are regging stuff like vrtoilet.com then that is good advice to give as that member is likely flushing money down the toilet. I don't see any reason for attacking an opposing opinion, but, I'd have to just revisit what you said (seconds before my post) about domains being their babies and my post about wearing an opposing teams jersey to another sports bar; you just shouldn't do it. Though, you also shouldn't go in there and say "great name, no less than 1k end user" (for the provided example of vrtoilet.com) or you don't look the most educated (to me at least). :-P

Touchy subject, and I find people these days need everything politically correct or they find the need to whine. Millenials...

I agree @David Walker

I just tell it how I see it..if people dont agree, that's fine with me.

ima follower . i don't post/say much coz i hv nothing to say, no offers/no sales but i watch that thread like a dingo watches a baby ... for me ( as a newbie ), i need both positive and negative inputs. discussions/ideas/drama/conflict i need all of it, thats how i learn. so for me, i think VR thread is in good shape :xf.grin:

So I shouldnt register vrbriguy or vr-briguy or vr-bri-guy ? @gilescoley

Still think people can be "over protective" of their domains.
Maybe (like some people in my life) hate admitting they made a mistake. Know a few people who made a bad buying decision in real estate (money pits) and think they are going to make a profit when they sell..

Speaking about that, but slightly off topic... I just recently purchased djwalker.com and caught davidwalker.net on the drop. I got pretty protective over my name after seeing a search result for Shane Bellone after some of my more recent posts against "figureheads" in the industry... just being cautious. ;)

But back on topic, no, you shouldn't register these names. This isn't an appraisal thread, so by rules, I don't need to go why I believe that they're worth $0 as opposed to reg fee, but they're $0. In fact, they'd be -$9 (1 year registration).

Your name is your brand..makes sense (business wise) to be protective.

Also don't like when members just post to "drop" their names..but that common on most niche threads. Didn't that I can report those with a selling price

Sure. Anything with a price, PM me, etc. is against the rules.

2.3. Do not promote active auctions or for sale listings in discussion threads.

in my most humblest opinions: VR is okay decent looking niche with bit of potential and few sales here and there.. and few new investment dollar amounts.. from small figure amounts to bigger figure amounts... and from smaller companies and also from some bigger players (like the facebook company from MarkZ) ... and also then there are a few startups and stuff like that... plus if you do google (or yahoo or other search engine) search for it, you will see they have some buzz on it on the world wide web of internet.. and there is few articles here and there.. written by people who are probably more intelligent than me... so therefore with more valuable opinions etc.

so all in all i think vr has the potential to become mildly interesting in the future... maybe even make a few dollars to few domainers. you never know.

also to add from me:

for example, me I own a few of the vr domains like it can be seen in the my signature, and some received sale, some other received offer already. and so is hard for me be mean to the vr... is like being mean to a wife who does good things for husband in kitchen or in the bed. it's hard to do you know.

all in all, I think is pretty niche. so let's be nice to pretty things and then maybe we get to score one day.
