NamePros Username Changes

Very often you lovely lot confuse the hell outta me and change your username.

It doesn't matter if you changed it today or last year but .. can you post your name now and what it was before.. You can even add why you changed it if you like :hehe:

I haven't changed my name but I did need to make a new account since I lost the email to my old one

It was Loco.M and hopefully I get get the accounts merged.

Accounts merged, except your previous active account was "Loco" not Loco.m

I changed it because I used to live in UAE the time I created the account. Few months back I acquired my name in .com so I thought to change the username which looks better

First 2 were just random names, the second two are my freelance name, then the business name - although that changed about 2 years ago, just wasn't on NP at the time to update it :D

As I remember it, once it's used it takes Admin to re-up it for another user.

There were some first names taken back in the day by one time posters, that after a few years RJ opened back up by request.

idk how that works now.

Usernames are stored in the database and don't allow new accounts to register with them once they have been archived. You're new ID retains a trail to your old ID so that we can keep track of all your identities

There's several reasons why, however one of the top 2 reasons is so nobody can impersonate you and also so we can keep a record for future investigations in the event fraud occurs or other violations.

Well it looks like I am stuck with it for awhile longer, I just went to change it and the name I wanted is taken by someone who only posted here once a few years ago.
Oh well.

Right, whether its 1k posts or 1 post, we don't hand over peoples accounts to others. We have to track each account, it's activities, it's ips, its infractions, its negative rep, its duplicates, etc.. Not to mention, its also common for some people just getting started or feeling burned out to stop logging in for a few months / years & then pop back up 6 months to 4 years later deciding to participate again.
