** NamePros Rules Reminder **

Many people join here each Day and many are Existing members already - But it seems people avoid reading the Rules No matter How often they are pointed out (Or even if People are paid to read them - Yes the FAQS and Rules were added to NpClicks last week :o ). So Lets have a little Refresher shall we ?

#1 to me is on this Page :
http://www.namepros.com/profile.php?do=editsignature

Right there above the text Box where people actually Enter their Signatures is the Set Rules for it :o
Signatures should be no more than four lines in length and may not contain images or font sizes larger than SIZE 2.
You look around right now and you'll see several people Breaking these rules as we speak :'( Font sizes of 4 and 5 .... people thinking We wont notice if they "Secretly" have 7 Lines in their Signature instead of 4 lines as requested ...... :guilty:

Okay , moving onward .....

Armstrong made a Great "Welcome" Announcement/Message here back in May : http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=90575

One thing I would like to say is that the "Warning Points" Chart on that page is out of Date Now .....

Warning Name Warning Description Warning Points :

Wrong Forum Please post threads in the proper forum 2
Affiliate Linking Affiliate links are not permitted under site rules 3
Forum Etiquette Please review site rules 4

I highlited in Red the main change there ;) We've had to add a special Warning just for those folks who like to Spam Via Private Message as well as in Chat.

Most of those Rules say it all .... No Begging or Duplicate Accounts , and SALES CRASHING Seems to be a few people Forget about the most.

And Onward ......

http://www.namepros.com/faq.php?faq=namepros#faq_site_rules

What are the site rules?
Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the following rules and policies detailed below.

Be Polite! - Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. Be polite! Debate and heated discussions are okay, however posting rude, attacking, insulting, profane and uncalled for comments are not allowed and may result in the permanent termination of your account.

Marketplace Etiquette:

Advertising is only permitted in the maretplace/advertising forums. Do not post the same advertisement or self promotion in multiple forums.

Please do NOT post derogatory remarks in the Sales/Auctions/Advertising threads OR attempt to "appraise" the domains or items(s) for sale. Only post if you have questions about the Sale/Auction, or are interested in the item.

Do not reply to posts in the advertising forums unless you are specifically interested in the product or service or having something valueable to add. Comments such as "too pricey for me", "can't afford that much", or "wish I had money" are not appreciated by the originating Sales thread poster. Do not reply and attempt to trash another members ad or say you've found better etc. Low-ball offers (relative to a posted Asking price) in the thread are not appropriate, either. PM the owner with these types of offers or inquiries. When in doubt, simply "PM" the owner.

Common sense goes a long way ... just put yourself in the shoes of the sales thread starter.

Affiliate Advertising. The Marketplace is intended for advertising products and services owned or operated by forum members. Affiliate or referral "links" are not appropriate anywhere on the forum.
*** Except for the NEW NPClicks ***

Multiple Sales Threads / Bumps. Please be reasonable and FAIR with the amount of Sales threads per day. Gratuitous self *bumps* are limited to one per 24 hour period. . We want to make it as fair as humanly possible to ALL NamePros members

As a forum Staff, our primary focus is building and nurturing the Namepros community. We respect that every forum has their own unique qualities of good and bad, however we ask that you do not use NamePros or WebDesignTalk to promote, OR conversely, to depreciate other domain/web design related discussion forums. Likewise we also ask that you do not use other domain forums to advertise for NamePros. This makes for an overall more fair, healthy and friendly environment

Signatures need to be set up in your profile. Signatures should contain no more than 4 lines. Please keep your signatures at a reasonable size. Posting pricing information of any product or service is not allowed in signatures. Do not place URL's or links to sites that contain explicit, vulgar, sexually-orientated, or obscene content in your signatures.

DO NOT SPAM Do not spam other members through private messages or any other way on the forum. You may not use the forum or private messaging to solicit members to come to your website or offer any products or services or for any other reason unless the member has specifically requested the information. If you receive any private messages or come across any message that you suspect may be spam please report it to a moderator or administrator. The following are a few examples of what is considered spam.
Very short posts that do not add value to the current post. Example: a post with only the words, "i dunno" or "lol cool" can be considered spam.

Double Posting. A double post is a back to back post by the same person. The second post may be considered spam. If you make a post and realize that you have made a mistake please use the edit/delete options, these are located to the right of each posted message. There are exceptions to this, but very few and it us up to the moderators to decide.

Posts that serve no purpose other than to up ones post count are considered spam. For example, if someone asks a question and you reply just to say you don't know the answer, this will be considered spam.
Your NamePros account may not be transferred or sold to another party. Duplicate accounts are not permitted. If you need to change your username, please contact a staff member.

We strive to maintain a professional atmosphere on our forum. Please do try to post in a manner that people can read and understand. Usage of pager-talk (text message style, ie: u and ur ) or "leet" talk is discouraged.

Please refrain from begging. If you are in need of funds, post an offer of legitimate goods or services for sale. Panhandling is not allowed.

Click fraud (encouraging clicks on pay per click advertising) is taken very seriously. Do not encourage it in any form on our site.

Shill bidding, the practice of artificially inflating bid prices on your own or a partner's auction may result in termination of your account.

When/If in doubt, please contact any site staff member or post in the Private User-To-Staff forum.

If we follow these simple rules ... it helps to maintain a better community for all of us.

It's really not a lot of rules When you think about it :o

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
lol - Most would still avoid them :red: - RJ even added the rules as a link to be paid to visit on NpClicks .... I wonder how many even noticed :o

Maybe we could move this to suggestions later and get peoples Outlook on certain rules and even possible additions or changes .....

I think, it would be a good idea to add the rules link below this line:
There are 14 members in the live chat room. Join Chat

for members will always be reminded. :td:

just only a suggestion.

Yes I agree about people not reading the Rule about 4 line Sigs
it is right in front of them when you change/edit the signature ,
yet people still claim they did not know.

You should put a link to all of the rules in a prominent position, so that EVERYONE can see it, and thus cant complain they havent read the rules...

For the 4 line signature policy, if you want this enforced more easily, can't you just restrict signature length? I'm not experienced with vBulletin, but I know in phpBB this is an option.

if i broke any rule just tell me...;)

Bumparoo ...... Peeps still doing the Sig thing ;)

I think part of the problem with SIGs is some people routinely use a higher res so 4 lines fit easily on their screen and it may not at a lower res.. I know I pointed that out to two members just this past week when this was the case.. I know I use 1024 by 768, alot use a higher res. Then again, there are some blantant violators, lol...

Either way, I believe SIGs are limited to 500 chars, am I correct?

I think so David - But those type I can usually tell , If it appears to be just a few words or so over the 4 line limit. The ones I'm talking about (Seen one earlier) are 8 lines long ;) or have Text This Big.

I made my sig too big but you guys quickly corrected me. :) Why dont you guys lock the sig to size 2 or even just post on the sig edit page no sigs over size 2 for us newbies?

Well for us vision impaired people you might have to post it in BIG LETTERS. :hehe:

It states in the signature editing area:

Signatures should be no more than four lines in length and may not contain images or font sizes larger than SIZE 2.

I don't think it could get much clearer. If you choose a different color or anything...then it's almost impossible to miss, even for the "vision imapaired". :p

There could be big bright red flashing lights surrounding it and there would still be people who violate those rules. ;)

Lets also point out - ANY rules that APPLY to the forum , Also APPLY to the chat room.

We really have too many people in there now to have people posting their individual domain names Over and Over ... Please just create a portfolio or a thread within NamePros listing your domains for sale and link to that.

Moved to "Info and Suggestions"

Bumparoo with a few Side Notes :

Please Read ALL Stickies in each forum section posted by Staff and Forum Leaders , This is where we post "Section Specific" rules .... and every member is Expected to make themselves aware of these rules.

People are still disregarding and disrespecting our Trader Rating system rules by leaving TR for Np Incentives such as "Forum Posting" on each others sites ... I must remind everyone "Abuse of the TR system may result in banning / account deletion" .....

Also - ANYONE allowing access to their accounts to BANNED members -OR- Advertising items and sites owned by BANNED members :| Don't expect a PAT on the back for being a Devoted member here - Expect the EXACT Opposite. This totally Defeats the Purpose of not allowing them access to NamePros in the first place and is pretty unethical IMO.

Abuse of Staff and Forum Leaders is Not tolerated at all anymore ... We all have allowed a certain amount slip by in the past , But enough is enough ;)
Staff and Forum Leaders are Volunteering their time here and deserve better treatment. We expect some silly replies and jabs at us from members we've banned or warned - But not by members who have in all reality never been touched.

Thanks - Mark ... NPstaff โ„ข

Bumping this up again , It seems folks just ignore reading the Rules that are in our FAQ and stickied in each section.

http://www.namepros.com/faq.php

Sales Crashing is getting a bit out of hand as well .... :( If you post something like "I can make this script if anyone is interested" in a Site for sale Thread - You're breaking the rules.

If you offer less in the open than what a person is asking or states they have in a site - You're just plain being rude. Make offers such as this via PM please .... It's just respectful to do so.

If you post "Thats too much" or Appraise the item for sale - You're just plain being an immature jerk !!!! End of Discussion ...

Also a Reminder :

- Signatures are to be 4 lines long with a Max size font of size 2
- Absolutely NO Affiliate or Referral links are allowed in the main forum - You may use NPClicks (http://www.namepros.com/npvisitors.php) or buy Advertising (http://www.namepros.com/mediakit.php) for that ....

- Do not offer an item / product here that is against other sites TOS , In other words , We do not allow the sell of Myspace Accounts or Bulletins. We do not allow the sale of YPN accounts or any other monetizing accounts such as parking accounts.

When you sign up at Any site or forum , You agree to read and follow the sites Rules and TOS Yet I have people all the time PM'ing me back after they are warned saying "You could have just told me the rules". -- Sorry , But we do not have time to tell every member every rule individually. This is why we have them in the FAQ and Announced/Stickied all over the forum ;)
