discuss NameJet Purchase: Old Owner Still Active + Network Solutions DNS Ransom

Just wanted to vent a bit about my latest NameJet experience.

I won a domain through NameJet, only to find out afterward that the previous owner never cleaned up their marketplace listings. The name is still active under their account on Afternic, Atom, and others.

To make it worse, the domain landed at Network Solutions, who basically hijacks your DNS controls.
They’ll charge you if you want to add a simple TXT record. Meaning you can’t verify ownership on marketplaces unless you pay !!

The “solution” is to wait 60 days, then transfer to a registrar that doesn’t lock basic DNS edits behind a paywall.

It happened before and it'll happen again. There really should be an automated cleanup when domains are auctioned on NameJet or any marketplace, it’s a real PITA.

I'm pretty sure that NetSol is NameJet's registrar of choice by default. Another member can validate.

I am absolutely bombarded by unwanted email from Namejet since I've not used them for nearly a decade and I can't access my account unless I submit ID and related sensitive info, which I am loathe to do (so far). Miserable company.

You can edit/add TXT files at Netsol by reverting the NS back to theirs (worldnic I think). Then you'll be able to change records to verify. Once verified you can change NS back to your lander of choice.

Good to know. I will switch it back to worldnic and see if that works. Appreciate the advice !!
