Hey,

This is the status of my transfer into Namecheap:

r26.com 05/04/2005 (removed) 05/08/2005 Domain transfer initiated and awaiting approval

The seller says he has approved the transfer. Namecheap tells me that the registrar itself must approve the transfer. Is this accurate? It's been 4-5 days since my purchase and the current status hasn't changed.

Thanks.

Yes. some, (outgoing) registrars put holds of varying periods, usually no longer than 7 das, to make sure that all is well w/ the existing owner and to allow time for a double check to make sure that the transfer was not initiated fraudulently. No probs. NameCheap is one of my most trusted registrar's and you can believe the info to be true if it is coming from them.

To emphasize this latter point, I have had a few instances over the past 6 mos where I was getting conflicting info from NameCheap and another registrar. In *all* cases, NameCheap's info was the right info.
