I guess it had to happen... After the regfly fiasco of an eNom reseller gone rogue, namecheap follows...
I attempted to get EPP codes for expiring domains well within 30 days before expiration. It used to be, you get it on site, and transfer.
the new system said that the EPP will be emailed to you.
It never gets emailed...
Namecheap is going down the regfly road.

This is a warning to anyone that has domains with namecheap.
Be VERY careful.
Very sad..

Relax....

I have requested multiple transfers out from the past 2 months.
zero.
no email.
nothing.
nada.

They are obviously handling things differently from the enom reseller transfer to being their own registrar.
They have NOT done a good job so far, so I feel that I must alert my peers.

i only have 2 domains in namecheap, i requested a transfer and got the Epp code in less than a minute, i am waiting now for the transfer to complete.

People.
I am only documenting my case.
The domains that I am referring to where at namecheap under their eNom reseller account.
You can look up my old posts, which have been nothing but praise for NC.
Not anymore.
I have said what happened to me.
Period.

I still dont know have you contacted support ? Have you called them ?

I'm just trying to understand what happened. And you havent just documented your case -> "Namecheap is going down the regfly road."

ok, step by step.
T'was the Namecheap transitional period.
I attempted to get my EPP codes.
In the ole times, it use to be, that the EPP showed up on the same ole site.
The new times had come, and a request that said "due to changes, we will email you your EPP codes within 48 hours" appeared.
Blessed be those words.
many days later, and months have passed, no codes were sent, and the transfer has collapsed.
Is it because of 2 systems in 1? Or has too much time lapsed?
Could it be enom, and namecheap colliding?
in the end, I got nothing working.
Now that reminds me, of a tale of old.
namecheap is the registar, and regfly, oh terror be told.

As simple as that.
If I am the only person this happened to... Then its just me.
But I really doubt it... And I am sure you doubt me.

Never had a problem getting EPP codes. Could it have been that they were doing maintenance on the site when you made your request? This would possibly lead to the request not being processed.

Could be wrong but don't think they've actually switched from enom yet. I do know that they were just doing server maintenance.

I'll try to get an ep with one of my older domains registered there. This would be very bad as I have 100+ stored at Namecheap

UPDATE: Took 30 seconds to get a valid code for a name registered there for 3 years+. Don't scare me like that lol :'(

I would re-try, or create a help ticket. Could be that your email is filtering them as spam?

I actually got a reply from their support.
That is VERY good (and better than other registars).
No replies before that.
The online chat support went nowhere after 20 mins.
Friends, this is a good sign.
I will update.
However, there is still the situation regarding the migration from eNom.

I've been with namecheap for over 2 years, no problems so far, except the high prices.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems with them?

Regfly were selling domains at ridiculously low prices, so it was only obvious that eventually they'll collapse.

I think I should speak. It happened to me too.

I had once requested the EPP Code and waited for it for almost 4 days. Then I thought that something was amiss so I requested again. Another 3 days and there was not email.

The third time I requested was more than a week after the first request and guess what?.. The email reached my mailbox in 5 minutes.

This is when I started to hate them.

I've experienced the same thing as seeker. After 48 hours I opened a support ticket. They then apologized and send me my requested Auth Codes. There are certainly some inconsistencies in that "will send email in 48 hours" thingy. It's happened to me more than once, also.

Never had any problems with NameCheap, just submit a support ticket - they are usually quite fast to reply (unlike GoDaddy).

I find Godaddy quick to reply to support emails.

I've been moving all my domains to NC despite the prices. Moniker etc are even higher, or else I'd go there instead.

Richard K stated especially in their forum that they won't migrate their clients'
domain names currently under their eNom reseller status to their registrar one.
No doubt they want to avoid the mess that Registerfly got into when they did
that.

My sometimes-off guess is it's a "fulfilment issue" of sorts, namely NameCheap
obtaining the auth code from eNom and emailing it. That's one catch to being
a reseller since you're dependent on someone else.

It has happened to me many times. Request EPP code, get a message it will be emailed 24-48 hours, wait longer than 48 hours, email support and FINALLY GET THE $#%$%^#$$# EPP code. It's VERY annoying and Namecheap is the only registrar I've ever had this kind of problem with.
