Hello All,
First post so I hope I don't mess it up. I've had the name Myvicinity.com for about 12 years. Recently someone approached me about buying it and offered $300.00. I never thought about selling it until now, and really have no idea as to its value. Several Free sites put the value between $320 and $2170. Any thoughts on this? A company in the UK has an Apple App called My Vicinity App where they offer push notifications for special offers based upon your location.

Thank you.
Stan

It really comes down to how much the name means to you, and the personal factor.

Obviously you owned it for 12 years for a reason.

Personal attachment aside, I dont see the name having any value over what has been offered at $300.

So that being said, if you have no attachment to the name and need the money asap. Take the offer IMHO.

If you still have some love for the name, and dont really need the money throw back a counter offer.

I would counter at $1200 and see where it takes you.

Good Luck.

No way i would sell it for $300, this is the moment you live for as a domainer, the possibility of putting the screws to someone that has to have the name. Do you know they have to have it, no, but assume they do. Ask big or keep it. Goodluck

I'm in real estate and when I purchased the name, I was thinking of using it for something real estate related. I'm one of these people that everytime I get a "great idea" I usually purchase the domain to go with it. And most of the time, never get around to using it. I've been sitting on this name, because I kind of forgot about it.

This being said, once approached, I started thinking about the name. Easy to remember, under the 14 character limit. I can think of several applications it would work for. Then I saw the myvicinityapp.com and my eyes opened. A company in in the UK offers an app for UK users to get deals pushed to them based on location. What if it came to the US? I'm in no hurry to sell.

The prospective buyer offered $300 and when I mentioned I was in no hurry to sell stated they would pay a reasonable amount.

I'm not trying to get rich, just looking for a fair price.

By the way, thank you all for taking the time to give your input.

i would not consider selling anywhere below $2,500 and would counter offer $5,000 if i were not in a hurry..

if you dont have it listed on Sedo and you've not marketed it but were approached directly via whois - that means the buyer was not just browsing auction listings making low ball offers on everything that fits, they want this exact domain.. and it's really good too..

best of luck

Thanks for the advice. I made a counter offer and we'll see where it goes.
