I am I the only experiencing slower sales in 2011? This is the first year I havent had a domain sale. Usually I do at least a few 3 figure and one or two 4-figure sales per year. Oh well. My domain business is still profitable thanks to parking revenue but I have always welcomed the occasional sale. Of course - I havent done squadush ever - to make sales but they usually just happen every 2-3 months. Not this year.

Anybody else noticed a slow down in "sales".

Actually there were less sales in Year 2011 comparatively previous years. This effect was also seen in TRAFFIC conference and expo this year. But Sedo and Afternic are sales are not less. TobyClements.com has also sold domain names worth of $1m and above.

The world economy is still in the gutter and people are fearing another recession in the last couple of months and that is probably one of the reasons that people are on a tight budget and trying to limit their spending for now.

Sales across the board are down not just on domains. People are holding onto their extra cash as a security measure. I am still getting offers on a consistent basis just sticking my ground so I am selling less as well but by choice as I feel now is the time to pick up deals in buy mode and not sell. I'm sure someday I'll get out of domains and liquidate everything regardless of the current economy status but not there yet so focused on buying/developing at the moment.

I had my best ever year in my main business which is advertising creative - and that if anything goes by the pulse of the economy. Glad to hear I am not the only experiencing slow domain sales. I have been in the biz (very part time) for almost 10 years now. (wow time flies) It's not just the sales that are down but the inquiries too. (I dont miss the silly offers though)

It appears that 2011 has been the toughest year yet through this recession and it will probably get worse. I wish you and everyone else out there the best.

You are not alone. The global market facing economy fluctuations got negative effect with sales in year 2011.
I have two or more ecommerce websites witnessed 10-15% sales down ,when comparing with the past year.
Not only the economy ,the panda update is also made it worse

I was up a little in 2011 from 2010, but still way down from before. It's really quite simple - companies are not putting their cash into expansion and growth, and this is where the purchase of domain names often comes into play. I think this will change, probably around 3-4 quarters from now...

Sales have been miserable all around. My main product business is down 30% from last year but my domain sales have been going well. I've moved about 150 domains this year so far. Most were in the $100-$300 range but I did get a $5000 sale from SEDO in September.

In the meantime, I have been building my portfolio. Seems a lot of people are letting domains drop this year. I've found some real gems recently.

In order to improve your domain name sales, it is essential to market your business aggressively online. You can start with article marketing, blogging and creating a presence on the social networking websites. These strategies will help in terms of driving more traffic to your website. Once you have established a good online presence, conversion rate will also increase.

2012 was even worse than 2011 domain revenue wise. 2013 I had some nice sales and parking revenue started to crawl back up and now in 2014 I see a big jump in parking revenue and 2 nice sales already.

Interesting. Do you think that´s a sign of general economic recovery?

My sales were worst ever, in 2013. Although had a lot on inquiries in last quarter of 2013. Not all inquiries were tire kickers. 2014 not so many inquiries as last quarter 2013 but sales have been buoyant. So things are getting better, imho. But this is an eratic business, in the best of times.
